Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ I would choose twelve thousand men and set out tonight in pursuit of David.

One day Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ Here’s what I suggest. Choose 12,000 men. Start out tonight and go after David.

For wicked and deceitful mouths open against me; they speak against me with lying tongues.They surround me with hateful words and attack me without cause.In return for my love they accuse me, but I continue to pray.

Their feet run after evil, and they rush to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are sinful thoughts; ruin and wretchedness are in their paths.They have not known the path of peace, and there is no justice in their ways. They have made their roads crooked; no one who walks on them will know peace.

But You, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the One who lifts up my head.I cry aloud to the Lord, and He answers me from His holy mountain. SelahI lie down and sleep; I wake again because the Lord sustains me.

For they can’t sleep unless they have done what is evil; they are robbed of sleep unless they make someone stumble.

because their feet run toward trouble and they hurry to commit murder.
