耶和华的话又临到亚伯兰说：“这人必不会作你的继承人；你亲生的才会是你的继承人。”

弟兄要出卖弟兄，父亲要出卖儿女，甚至把他们置于死地；儿女要悖逆父母，害死他们。

亚希多弗又对押沙龙说：“求你准我挑选一万二千人，今晚我要动身去追赶大卫，趁他疲乏手软的时候，忽然追上他，使他惊惶失措，与他在一起的人就必逃跑；我只要单单击杀王一人，使众人都来归你。好像新娘归回丈夫那里一样。你所寻索的不过是一个人的性命，众人会平安无事（《马索拉文本》本句意思不明确，现参照《七十士译本》翻译）。众人就都归你了，众人也可以平安无事。”押沙龙和以色列的众长老都看这事为美。

一日，他正在他的神亚斯洛的庙中叩拜的时候，亚得米勒和沙利色用刀刺杀了他，然后逃到亚拉腊地。他的儿子以撒哈顿接续他作王。

因此，我也把不好的律例和不能借以存活的典章赐给他们；

现在你们不要因为把我卖到这里来，而自忧自责。这原是神差派我在你们以先来这里，为要保全性命。

王对拿单先知说：“你看！我自己住在香柏木的宫里，耶和华的约柜却停在帐幕内。”

如果有先知被欺骗说一句话，是我耶和华任那先知受欺骗的；我必伸手攻击他，把他从我子民以色列中除灭。

耶和华就差派一位使者，进入亚述王的军营中，把所有英勇的战士、官长和将帅，尽都消灭了。亚述王满面羞愧返回本国去了。他进入自己的神庙的时候，他亲生的儿子在那里用刀把他杀了。

亚述啊！我怒气的棍子，有祸了。他们手中拿着我忿怒的杖。我要差派他去攻击一个不敬虔的国，吩咐他去攻击我恼怒的子民，掳去掠物，抢夺掳物，把他们践踏，像街上的泥土一样。但亚述并没有这样想过，他心里也没有这样打算；他心里倒想毁灭、剪除多国。
