撒母耳就拿了油角，在他哥哥們中間膏了他；從那一天起、永恆主的靈就大大感動大衛。於是撒母耳起身、往拉瑪去了。

永恆主對撒母耳說：『我棄絕了掃羅做以色列的王，你為他悲傷要到幾時呢？把你的角盛滿了膏油吧！來，我差遣你到伯利恆人耶西那裏去，因為我在他的兒子當中已經看定了一個作王的。』撒母耳說：『我怎能去呢？掃羅聽見、必定殺害我的。』永恆主說：『你手裏可以牽着一隻母牛犢，就說：「我是為給永恆主獻祭來的。」

押沙龍逃走，到基述去，在那裏三年。

就打發他們往伯利恆去，說：『你們去仔細探問那小孩子的事；找着了，就報告我，我也好去拜他。』

『經學士和法利賽人、假冒為善的人哪，你們有禍啊！因為你們當人面前把天國關起來；你們自己不進入，又不容那正進入的人進入。

惡人的祭物本為可厭惡，何況他存着惡意帶來獻呢！
