At the end of four years, Absalom said to the king,“ Let me go to Hebron and fulfill a vow I made to the Lord.

After Absalom had lived in Jerusalem for four years, he went and spoke to the king. He said,“ Let me go to Hebron. I want to keep a promise I made to the Lord.

And at the end of four years Absalom said to the king,“ Please let me go and pay my vow, which I have vowed to the Lord, in Hebron.

And he pressed him: howbeit he would not go, but blessed him.Then said Absalom, If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said unto him, Why should he go with thee?But Absalom pressed him, and he let Amnon and all the king’s sons go with him.

Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of Jehovah came mightily upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

And Jehovah said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from being king over Israel? fill thy horn with oil, and go: I will send thee to Jesse the Beth- lehemite; for I have provided me a king among his sons.And Samuel said, How can I go? if Saul hear it, he will kill me. And Jehovah said, Take a heifer with thee, and say, I am come to sacrifice to Jehovah.

So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.

And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search out exactly concerning the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word, that I also may come and worship him.

But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye shut the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye enter not in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering in to enter.

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination; How much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind!
