Absalom would continue,“ I wish I were appointed judge in the land! Then anyone who has a case or a claim could come to me. I would make sure they are treated fairly.”

押沙龙又说：“恨不得我作国中的士师！凡有争讼求审判的到我这里来，我必秉公判断。”

押沙龙又说：“恨不得我作这地的审判官！凡有争讼的人可以到我这里来，我必秉公判断。”

押沙龙又说：“恨不得我作这地的审判官！凡有争讼的人可以到我这里来，我必秉公判断。”

他接着会说：“要是我被立为国中的审判官就好了！那样，任何人有申诉都可以来找我，我一定会为他主持公道。”

押沙龙又说：“但愿有人立我作这地的审判官，这样，有案件或诉讼的人，都可以到我这里来，我就给他公平的审判。”

押沙龍又說：「恨不得我作國中的士師！凡有爭訟求審判的到我這裏來，我必秉公判斷。」

他接著會說：「要是我被立為國中的審判官就好了！那樣，任何人有申訴都可以來找我，我一定會為他主持公道。」

押沙龍又說：“但願有人立我作這地的審判官，這樣，有案件或訴訟的人，都可以到我這裡來，我就給他公平的審判。”

押沙龍又說：『恨不得我在此地做審判官；凡有爭訟求判斷的人到我這裏來，我可秉公判斷。』

押沙龍又說：「但願有人立我作這地的審判官，這樣，任何一個有爭訟案件的人都可以到我這裡來，我必為他秉公辦理。」

又曰、我深願立為士師於斯土、凡有爭端訟事、咸詣我所、我必為之公斷、

又曰、我願為士師於斯土、凡有訟事、咸詣我所、我必代之剖析。

押沙龍又曰、我若如願、得為國中士師、凡為詞訟求判者至我前、我必以公義判斷、

And Absalom would add,“ If only I were appointed judge in the land! Then everyone who has a complaint or case could come to me and I would see that they receive justice.”

Then Absalom would say,“ Oh that I were judge in the land! Then every man with a dispute or cause might come to me, and I would give him justice.”

I wish I were the judge. Then everyone could bring their cases to me for judgment, and I would give them justice!”

He added,“ If only someone would appoint me judge in the land. Then anyone who had a grievance or dispute could come to me, and I would make sure he received justice.”

Moreover, Absalom would say,“ Oh that someone would appoint me judge in the land, then every man who has a lawsuit or claim could come to me, and I would give him justice!”

Moreover Absalom would say,“ Oh, that I were made judge in the land, and everyone who has any suit or cause would come to me; then I would give him justice.”

Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice!

He added,“ If only someone would appoint me judge in the land. Then anyone who had a grievance or dispute could come to me, and I would make sure he received justice.”

Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man which hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice!

Absalom would then say,“ If only they would make me a judge in the land! Then everyone who had a judicial complaint could come to me and I would make sure he receives a just settlement.”

Absalom said moreover,“ Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man who has any suit or cause might come to me, and I would do him justice!”

I wish these people were under my command. Then I would get rid of Abimelek. I would say to him,‘ Call out your whole army!’ ”

Don’t brag in front of the king. Don’t claim a place among his great men.

They promise to give freedom to these new believers. But they themselves are slaves to sinful living. That’s because“ people are slaves to anything that controls them.”

Abimelek was the son of Jerub- Baal. He went to his mother’s brothers in Shechem. He spoke to them and to all the members of his mother’s family group. He said,“ Speak to all the citizens of Shechem. Tell them,‘ You can have all 70 of Jerub- Baal’s sons rule over you. Or you can have just one man rule over you. Which would you rather have?’ Remember, I’m your own flesh and blood.”The brothers told all of that to the citizens of Shechem. Then the people decided to follow Abimelek. They said,“ He’s related to us.”They gave him 28 ounces of silver. They had taken it from the temple of the god named Baal- Berith. Abimelek used it to hire some men. They were wild and weren’t good for anything. They became his followers.Abimelek went to his father’s home in Ophrah. There on a big rock he murdered his 70 brothers. All of them were the sons of Jerub- Baal. But Jotham escaped by hiding. He was Jerub- Baal’s youngest son.

Let another person praise you, and not your own mouth. Let an outsider praise you, and not your own lips.

He said,“ Suppose someone invites you to a wedding feast. Do not take the place of honor. A person more important than you may have been invited.If so, the host who invited both of you will come to you. He will say,‘ Give this person your seat.’ Then you will be filled with shame. You will have to take the least important place.But when you are invited, take the lowest place. Then your host will come over to you. He will say,‘ Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in front of all the other guests.All those who lift themselves up will be made humble. And those who make themselves humble will be lifted up.”
