看哪，那裡還有他們兩人的兒子——撒督的兒子亞希瑪斯和亞比亞特的兒子約拿單；你們可以派遣他們，把你們聽到的一切信息傳給我。」

撒督子亞希瑪斯、亞比亞他子約拿單、二子亦與之偕、凡有所聞、遣之告我、

Their two sons, Ahimaaz son of Zadok and Jonathan son of Abiathar, are there with them. Send them to me with anything you hear.”

約拿單亞希馬斯不敢入城、居宴羅結、有女往告之、彼往欲告大闢王。

又謂祭司撒督曰、汝乃先見者、爾與爾子亞希馬斯、及亞庇亞塔子約拿單、安然歸邑。

撒督子亞希馬斯請約押曰、容我疾趨、以耶和華報仇之事、告之於王。約押曰、王子既死、爾今日勿報信音、當俟他日。約押告古示曰、爾往以所見者告王。古示揖約押而趨。撒督子亞希馬斯亦請曰、容我接踵於古示之後。約押曰、吾子欲報信音而不獲賞、爾趨何為。曰雖然、請容我趨。曰、可。亞希馬斯乃趨、道由平原、較古示愈疾。大闢坐邑之月城間、戍卒登邑門之樓、遙見一人獨趨、呼告於王、王曰、如惟一人、必報信音。其人疾走漸近。戍卒又見一人趨至、告閽者曰、我又觀一人獨趨。王曰、彼亦報信者也。戍卒曰、我視首趨者之步履、與撒督子亞希馬斯無異。王曰、彼善人也、必報嘉音。亞希馬斯呼告於王、曰、捷矣、俯伏於王前、曰、當頌美爾之上帝耶和華、已將所犯我主我王者、付於爾手。王曰、少者押沙龍安否。亞希馬斯曰、約押遣王之臣僕及我時、我見眾喧嘩、不知何故。王曰、汝暫退、侍於側。遂遵其命。古示至、曰、我主我王歟、我獲信音、今日耶和華已伸爾冤、報犯上之人。王曰、少者押沙龍安否。古示曰、願我主我王之敵、暨諸犯上欲害爾者、咸如彼少者。王甚憂、登邑門之樓而哭、且行且言曰、我子押沙龍、我子我子押沙龍、我願代爾死、我子我子押沙龍。
