Zadok was there, too, and all the Levites who were with him were carrying the ark of the covenant of God. They set down the ark of God, and Abiathar offered sacrifices until all the people had finished leaving the city.

And Abiathar came up, and behold, Zadok came also with all the Levites, bearing the ark of the covenant of God. And they set down the ark of God until the people had all passed out of the city.

神的約櫃被擄去，以利的兩個兒子何弗尼、非尼哈也都被殺了。

「你吩咐抬法櫃的祭司從約旦河上來。」約書亞就吩咐祭司說：「你們從約旦河上來。」抬耶和華約櫃的祭司從約旦河中上來，腳掌一落乾地，約旦河的水就流回原處，仍舊漲滿兩岸。

吩咐百姓說：「當你們看見利未家的祭司抬着耶和華－你們神的約櫃的時候，你們就要起行離開所住的地方，跟着約櫃走，

這地要歸撒督的子孫中成為聖的祭司，他們謹守我所吩咐的；當以色列人走迷的時候，他們不像那些利未人走迷了。

王對撒督祭司說：「你不是先見嗎？你可以平安地回城，你兒子亞希瑪斯和亞比亞他的兒子約拿單，你們二人的兒子可以與你們同去。

百姓回到營裏，以色列的長老說：「耶和華今日為何使我們敗在非利士人面前呢？我們要將耶和華的約櫃從示羅抬到我們這裏來，好讓他來到我們中間，救我們脫離敵人的手掌。」於是百姓派人到示羅，從那裏將坐在二基路伯上萬軍之耶和華的約櫃抬來。以利的兩個兒子何弗尼、非尼哈也與神的約櫃同來。耶和華的約櫃到了營中，全以色列就大聲歡呼，連地都震動。

那時正是收割的日子，約旦河的水漲滿兩岸。抬約櫃的人到了約旦河，抬約櫃的祭司腳一入水邊，那從上往下流的水就在很遠的地方，在撒拉但旁邊的亞當城那裏停住，豎立成壘；那往亞拉巴海，就是鹽海下流的水全然中斷。於是，百姓在耶利哥的對面過了河。抬耶和華約櫃的祭司在約旦河中的乾地上穩穩站着，以色列眾人都從乾地上過去，直到全國都過了約旦河。

但撒督祭司、耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅、拿單先知、示每、利以，以及大衛自己的勇士都不順從亞多尼雅。

這些是他的官員：撒督的兒子亞撒利雅作祭司，示沙的兩個兒子以利何烈、亞希亞作書記，亞希律的兒子約沙法作史官，耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅作元帥，撒督和亞比亞他作祭司，

約書亞對祭司說：「你們抬起約櫃，在百姓的前面過去。」於是他們抬起約櫃，走在百姓前面。

那時大衛說：「除了利未人之外，無人可抬神的約櫃，因為耶和華揀選他們抬神的約櫃，永遠事奉他。」

但沒有交給哥轄子孫任何東西，因為他們所事奉的是聖物，必須抬在肩頭上。

撒督和亞比亞他二位祭司豈不都在你那裏嗎？你在王宮裏聽見甚麼，就要告訴撒督和亞比亞他二位祭司。

亞希突生撒督；撒督生亞希瑪斯；亞希瑪斯生亞撒利雅；亞撒利雅生約哈難；約哈難生亞撒利雅，亞撒利雅在所羅門建造的耶路撒冷殿中擔任祭司的職分；亞撒利雅生亞瑪利雅；亞瑪利雅生亞希突；亞希突生撒督；撒督生沙龍；

嫩的兒子約書亞召了祭司來，對他們說：「你們抬起約櫃來，要有七個祭司拿七個羊角在耶和華的約櫃前。」

王就立耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅作元帥，代替約押，又使撒督祭司代替亞比亞他。

抬耶和華約櫃的人走了六步，大衛就獻牛與肥畜為祭。
