Zadok also went with them. Some of the Levites went with him. They were carrying the ark of the covenant of God. They set down the ark. Abiathar offered sacrifices until all the people had left the city.

And Abiathar came up, and behold, Zadok came also with all the Levites, bearing the ark of the covenant of God. And they set down the ark of God until the people had all passed out of the city.

Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelek son of Abiathar were priests; Seraiah was secretary;

Sheva was secretary; Zadok and Abiathar were priests;

But one son of Ahimelek son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled to join David.

Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets.

The ark of God was captured, and Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, died.

And Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.When the ark of the Lord’s covenant came into the camp, all Israel raised such a great shout that the ground shook.

Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge,the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah( that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.

But Zadok the priest, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei and Rei and David’s special guard did not join Adonijah.

And these were his chief officials: Azariah son of Zadok— the priest;Elihoreph and Ahijah, sons of Shisha— secretaries; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud— recorder;Benaiah son of Jehoiada— commander in chief; Zadok and Abiathar— priests;

Joshua said to the priests,“ Take up the ark of the covenant and pass on ahead of the people.” So they took it up and went ahead of them.

Then David said,“ No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, because the Lord chose them to carry the ark of the Lord and to minister before him forever.”

But Moses did not give any to the Kohathites, because they were to carry on their shoulders the holy things, for which they were responsible.

Won’t the priests Zadok and Abiathar be there with you? Tell them anything you hear in the king’s palace.

Ahitub the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Ahimaaz,Ahimaaz the father of Azariah, Azariah the father of Johanan,Johanan the father of Azariah( it was he who served as priest in the temple Solomon built in Jerusalem),Azariah the father of Amariah, Amariah the father of Ahitub,Ahitub the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Shallum,

So Joshua son of Nun called the priests and said to them,“ Take up the ark of the covenant of the Lord and have seven priests carry trumpets in front of it.”

The king put Benaiah son of Jehoiada over the army in Joab’s position and replaced Abiathar with Zadok the priest.

When those who were carrying the ark of the Lord had taken six steps, he sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf.
