Then David spoke to all his officials who were with him in Jerusalem. He said,“ Come on! We have to leave right away! If we don’t, none of us will escape from Absalom. He’ll move quickly to catch up with us. He’ll destroy us. His men will kill everyone in the city with their swords.”

Then David said to all his officials who were with him in Jerusalem,“ Come! We must flee, or none of us will escape from Absalom. We must leave immediately, or he will move quickly to overtake us and bring ruin on us and put the city to the sword.”

Then David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem,“ Arise, and let us flee, or else there will be no escape for us from Absalom. Go quickly, lest he overtake us quickly and bring down ruin on us and strike the city with the edge of the sword.”

“ Then we must flee at once, or it will be too late!” David urged his men.“ Hurry! If we get out of the city before Absalom arrives, both we and the city of Jerusalem will be spared from disaster.”

David said to all the servants with him in Jerusalem,“ Get up. We have to flee, or we will not escape from Absalom! Leave quickly, or he will overtake us quickly, heap disaster on us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword.”

So David said to all his servants who were with him in Jerusalem,“ Arise and let’s flee, for otherwise none of us will escape from Absalom. Go quickly, or he will hurry and overtake us, and bring disaster on us and strike the city with the edge of the sword.”

So David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem,“ Arise, and let us flee, or we shall not escape from Absalom. Make haste to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly and bring disaster upon us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword.”

And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for else none of us shall escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us quickly, and bring down evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

David said to all the servants with him in Jerusalem,“ Get up. We have to flee, or we will not escape from Absalom! Leave quickly, or he will soon overtake us, heap disaster on us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword.”

And David said unto all his servants that[ were] with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not[ else] escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

So David said to all his servants who were with him in Jerusalem,“ Come on! Let’s escape! Otherwise no one will be delivered from Absalom! Go immediately, or else he will quickly overtake us and bring disaster on us and kill the city’s residents with the sword.”

David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem,“ Arise! Let’s flee; or else none of us will escape from Absalom. Hurry to depart, lest he overtake us quickly, and bring down evil on us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword.”

People from all the tribes of Israel began to argue among themselves. They were saying,“ The king saved us from the power of our enemies. He saved us from the power of the Philistines. But now he has left the country to escape from Absalom.

Since the days of John the Baptist, the kingdom of heaven has been under attack. And violent people are taking hold of it.

The prince must not take any share of land that belongs to the people. He must not drive them off their property. He must give his sons their share out of his own property. Then not one of my people will be separated from their property.”

I’m troubled by what my enemies say about me. I’m upset because they say they will harm me. They cause me all kinds of suffering. When they are angry, they attack me with their words.I feel great pain deep down inside me. The terrors of death have fallen on me.Fear and trembling have taken hold of me. Panic has overpowered me.I said,“ I wish I had wings like a dove! Then I would fly away and be at rest.I would escape to a place far away. I would stay out in the desert.I would hurry to my place of safety. It would be far away from the winds and storms I’m facing.”Lord, confuse the sinners and keep them from understanding one another. I see people destroying things and fighting in the city.Day and night they prowl around on top of its walls. The city is full of crime and trouble.Forces that destroy are at work inside it. Its streets are full of people who cheat others and take advantage of them.

And what about you, Capernaum? Will you be lifted up to the heavens? No! You will go down to the place of the dead.

“ The Lord also says,‘ I am going to bring trouble on you. It will come from your own family. I will take your wives away. Your own eyes will see it. I will give your wives to a man who is close to you. He will sleep with them in the middle of the day.

So the three mighty warriors fought their way past the Philistine guards. They got some water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem. They took the water back to David. But David refused to drink it. Instead, he poured it out as a drink offering to the Lord.“ Lord, I would never drink that water!” David said.“ It stands for the blood of these men. They put their lives in danger by going to Bethlehem to get it.” So David wouldn’t drink it. Those were some of the brave things the three mighty warriors did.

Lord, I have so many enemies! So many people are rising up against me!Many are saying about me,“ God will not save him.”Lord, you are like a shield that keeps me safe. You bring me honor. You help me win the battle.I call out to the Lord. He answers me from his holy mountain.I lie down and sleep. I wake up again, because the Lord takes care of me.I won’t be afraid even though tens of thousands attack me on every side.Lord, rise up! My God, save me! Strike all my enemies in the face. Break the teeth of sinful people.Lord, you are the one who saves. May your blessing be on your people.

Jerusalem, if I forget you, may my right hand never be able to play the harp again.If I don’t remember you, may my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth so I can’t sing. May it happen if I don’t consider Jerusalem to be my greatest joy.

May you be pleased to give Zion success. May it please you to build up the walls of Jerusalem.
