Then Absalom sent secret messengers throughout the tribes of Israel to say,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpets, then say,‘ Absalom is king in Hebron.’”

Then Absalom sent messengers secretly to all the tribes of Israel. They said,“ Listen for the sound of trumpets. As soon as you hear them, say,‘ Absalom has become king in Hebron.’ ”

But Absalom sent secret messengers throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then say,‘ Absalom is king at Hebron!’”

But while he was there, he sent secret messengers to all the tribes of Israel to stir up a rebellion against the king.“ As soon as you hear the ram’s horn,” his message read,“ you are to say,‘ Absalom has been crowned king in Hebron.’”

Then Absalom sent agents throughout the tribes of Israel with this message:“ When you hear the sound of the ram’s horn, you are to say,‘ Absalom has become king in Hebron!’”

But Absalom sent spies throughout the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say,‘ Absalom is king in Hebron!’ ”

Then Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say,‘ Absalom reigns in Hebron!’”

Then Absalom sent messengers throughout the tribes of Israel with this message:“ When you hear the sound of the ram’s horn, you are to say,‘ Absalom has become king in Hebron!’”

But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say,‘ Absalom is king in Hebron!’”

有些全副武装的士兵也到希伯仑投奔大卫，要把扫罗的国权交给大卫，正如耶和华的应许。以下是这些人的数目：

我们膏立为王的押沙龙已经死了，为什么无人说请王回来呢？”

押沙龙就吩咐仆人：“你们看，约押的田就在我的田旁边，他种了大麦，你们去放火把它烧了。”押沙龙的仆人便把麦田烧了。

你把他们放在容易滑倒的地方，使他们落入毁灭中。他们顷刻间被毁灭，在恐怖中彻底灭亡。

这事以后，大卫求问耶和华：“我可以回到犹大的城邑吗？”耶和华说：“可以。”大卫又问：“我应该回到哪一座城呢？”耶和华说：“希伯仑。”

以色列的长老都到希伯仑见大卫王，大卫与他们在耶和华面前立约，他们膏立大卫做以色列的王，这应验了耶和华借撒母耳所说的话。

大卫在希伯仑生的儿子有耶斯列人亚希暖所生的长子暗嫩，迦密人拿八的遗孀亚比该所生的次子基利押，基述王达买的女儿玛迦所生的三子押沙龙，

大卫在希伯仑做王统治犹大支派七年半。

恶人得势不会长久，不信上帝者的快乐转瞬即逝？虽然他傲气冲天，把头挺到云端，终必如自己的粪便永远消亡，见过他的人都不知他在何处。他如梦消逝，踪影杳然；如夜间的异象，飞逝而去。见过他的人不会再见到他，他将从家乡消失无踪。他的儿女要向穷人乞怜，他要亲手偿还不义之财。他的筋骨依然强健，却要随他葬入尘土。“他以邪恶为甘饴，将其藏在舌下，含在口中，慢慢品味。这食物在腹中变酸，变成了蛇的毒液。他要吐出所吞下的财富，上帝要倒空他腹中之物。他吸吮蛇的毒液，被蛇的舌头害死。他无法享用流淌不尽的奶与蜜。他留不住劳碌的成果，无法享用所赚的财富。他欺压、漠视穷人，强占别人的房屋。他贪欲无度，不放过任何喜爱之物。他吞掉一切所有，他的福乐不能长久。他在富足时将陷入困境，各种灾祸将接踵而至。上帝的怒火如雨降在他身上，填满他的肚腹。他躲过了铁刃，却被铜箭射穿。利箭穿透他的后背，闪亮的箭头刺破他的胆囊，恐怖笼罩着他。他的财宝消失在幽冥中，天火要吞噬他，焚毁他帐篷中残留的一切。天要揭露他的罪恶，地要站出来指控他。在上帝发烈怒的日子，洪流将席卷他的家产。这便是上帝为恶人定下的结局，为他们预备的归宿。”

以上这些人都是能征善战的勇士，他们诚心诚意地到希伯仑拥立大卫做以色列王，其余的以色列人也都万众一心地要立大卫做王。

他在希伯仑统治犹大七年半，在耶路撒冷统治以色列和犹大三十三年。

他们连忙将自己的衣服铺在耶户脚下的台阶上，吹响号角，高喊：“耶户做王了！”

押沙龙吩咐仆人说：“你们要留意，当暗嫩喝得正高兴的时候，我叫你们杀他，你们就要动手。不要畏缩，要刚强勇敢！因为这是我的命令。”

撒督祭司和拿单先知要在那里膏立他为以色列王。你们要吹响号角，高喊，‘所罗门王万岁！’
