Then Absalom sent secret messengers throughout the tribes of Israel to say,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpets, then say,‘ Absalom is king in Hebron.’”

Then Absalom sent messengers secretly to all the tribes of Israel. They said,“ Listen for the sound of trumpets. As soon as you hear them, say,‘ Absalom has become king in Hebron.’ ”

But Absalom sent secret messengers throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then say,‘ Absalom is king at Hebron!’”

But while he was there, he sent secret messengers to all the tribes of Israel to stir up a rebellion against the king.“ As soon as you hear the ram’s horn,” his message read,“ you are to say,‘ Absalom has been crowned king in Hebron.’”

Then Absalom sent agents throughout the tribes of Israel with this message:“ When you hear the sound of the ram’s horn, you are to say,‘ Absalom has become king in Hebron!’”

But Absalom sent spies throughout the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say,‘ Absalom is king in Hebron!’ ”

Then Absalom sent messengers throughout the tribes of Israel with this message:“ When you hear the sound of the ram’s horn, you are to say,‘ Absalom has become king in Hebron!’”

Then Absalom sent spies through all the tribes of Israel who said,“ When you hear the sound of the horn, you may assume that Absalom rules in Hebron.”

But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying,“ As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say,‘ Absalom is king in Hebron!’”

And these are the numbers of the heads of them that were armed for war, who came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of Jehovah.

And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?

Therefore he said unto his servants, See, Joab’s field is near mine, and he hath barley there; go and set it on fire. And Absalom’s servants set the field on fire.

Surely thou settest them in slippery places: Thou castest them down to destruction.How are they become a desolation in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

And it came to pass after this, that David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? And Jehovah said unto him, Go up. And David said, Whither shall I go up? And he said, Unto Hebron.

So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Jehovah; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of Jehovah by Samuel.

And unto David were sons born in Hebron: and his first- born was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess;and his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;

And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.

That the triumphing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the godless but for a moment?Though his height mount up to the heavens, And his head reach unto the clouds;Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: They that have seen him shall say, Where is he?He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: Yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.The eye which saw him shall see him no more; Neither shall his place any more behold him.His children shall seek the favor of the poor, And his hands shall give back his wealth.His bones are full of his youth, But it shall lie down with him in the dust.Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, Though he hide it under his tongue,Though he spare it, and will not let it go, But keep it still within his mouth;Yet his food in his bowels is turned, It is the gall of asps within him.He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again; God will cast them out of his belly.He shall suck the poison of asps: The viper’s tongue shall slay him.He shall not look upon the rivers, The flowing streams of honey and butter.That which he labored for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down; According to the substance that he hath gotten, he shall not rejoice.For he hath oppressed and forsaken the poor; He hath violently taken away a house, and he shall not build it up.Because he knew no quietness within him, He shall not save aught of that wherein he delighteth.There was nothing left that he devoured not; Therefore his prosperity shall not endure.In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: The hand of every one that is in misery shall come upon him.When he is about to fill his belly, God will cast the fierceness of his wrath upon him, And will rain it upon him while he is eating.He shall flee from the iron weapon, And the bow of brass shall strike him through.He draweth it forth, and it cometh out of his body; Yea, the glittering point cometh out of his gall: Terrors are upon him.All darkness is laid up for his treasures: A fire not blown by man shall devour him; It shall consume that which is left in his tent.The heavens shall reveal his iniquity, And the earth shall rise up against him.The increase of his house shall depart; His goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.This is the portion of a wicked man from God, And the heritage appointed unto him by God.

All these, being men of war, that could order the battle array, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months; and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.

Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew the trumpet, saying, Jehu is king.

And Absalom commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now, when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine; and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon, then kill him; fear not; have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.

and let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel; and blow ye the trumpet, and say, Long live king Solomon.
