爾僕約押為此、欲使事勢變遷、我主聰睿、如上帝之使、洞悉世事、○

此事實緣於爾臣約押、我主我王自具智慧、如上帝之使、天下事無不洞悉。

王之僕約押如是行、欲藉此以諫勸、我主之智慧、如天主使者之智慧、能知天下諸事、

Your servant Joab did this to change the present situation. My lord has wisdom like that of an angel of God— he knows everything that happens in the land.”

He did it to change the way things now are. You are as wise as an angel of God. You know everything that happens in the land.”

婢女想：‘我主我王的话必安慰我’；因为我主我王能辨别是非，如同上帝的使者一样。惟愿耶和华—你的上帝与你同在！”

“你曾进到海之源，或在深渊的隐密处行走吗？死亡的门曾向你显露吗？死荫的门你曾见过吗？地的广大，你能测透吗？你若全知道，只管说吧！“往光明居所的路在哪里？黑暗的地方在何处？你能将它带到其领域，能辨明其居所之路吗？你知道的，因为那时你已出生，你活的日子数目也多。“你曾进入雪之库，或见过雹的仓吗？雪雹是我为灾难的时候，为打仗和战争的日子所预备。光亮从何路分开？东风从何路分散遍地？“谁为大雨分道，谁为雷电开路，使雨降在无人之地，在无人居住的旷野，使荒废凄凉之地得以丰足，青草得以生长？“雨有父亲吗？露珠是谁生的呢？冰出于谁的胎？天上的霜是谁生的呢？诸水坚硬如石头，深渊之面凝结成冰。“你能为昴星系结吗？你能为参星解带吗？你能按时领出星宿吗？能引导北斗与其众星吗？你知道天的定律吗？你能使地归其权下吗？“你能向密云扬起声来，使倾盆的雨遮盖你吗？你能发出闪电，使它们行走，并对你说‘我们在这里’吗？谁将智慧放在朱鹭中？谁将聪明赐给雄鸡？谁能用智慧数算云彩？谁能倾倒天上的瓶呢？那时，尘土聚集成团，土块紧紧结连。“你能为母狮抓取猎物，使少壮的狮子饱足吗？那时，它们在洞中蹲伏，在隐密处埋伏。谁能为乌鸦预备食物呢？那时，乌鸦之雏哀求上帝，因无食物飞来飞去。”

大卫求问耶和华；耶和华说：“不要直上，要绕到他们后头，从桑树林对面攻打他们。

谄媚邻舍的，就是设网罗绊他的脚。

因为上帝知道，你们吃的日子眼睛就开了，你们就像上帝一样知道善恶。”

我必不看人的情面，也不奉承人。我不懂得奉承；不然，造我的主必快快除灭我。”

关于祭过偶像的食物，我们晓得“我们都有知识”，但知识使人自高自大，惟有爱心能造就人。若有人自以为知道什么，他其实仍不知道他所应当知道的。
