Then she said,“ Please swear to me by the Lord your God that you won’t let anyone take vengeance against my son. I want no more bloodshed.”“ As surely as the Lord lives,” he replied,“ not a hair on your son’s head will be disturbed!”

妇人说：“愿王对耶和华—你的神发誓，不许报血仇的人施行毁灭，免得他们灭绝我的儿子。”王说：“我指着永生的耶和华起誓：你的儿子连一根头发也不致落在地上。”

妇人说：“求王凭你的上帝耶和华起誓，不许报仇者杀人，留我儿一命。”王说：“我凭永活的耶和华起誓，你的儿子必毫发无损。”

妇人说：“愿王记念耶和华你的神，不许报血仇的人多行杀戮，免得他们灭绝我的儿子。”王说：“我指着永活的耶和华起誓，你的儿子连一根头发也不会落在地上。”

婦人說：「願王記念耶和華－你的神，不許報血仇的人施行滅絕，恐怕他們滅絕我的兒子。」王說：「我指着永生的耶和華起誓：你的兒子連一根頭髮也不致落在地上。」

婦人說：“願王記念耶和華你的神，不許報血仇的人多行殺戮，免得他們滅絕我的兒子。”王說：“我指著永活的耶和華起誓，你的兒子連一根頭髮也不會落在地上。”

婦人說：『願王懷念着永恆主你的上帝，不許報血仇的多行殺滅，來除滅我兒子。』王說：『我指着永活的永恆主來起誓，你兒子連一根頭髮也不至於落地。』

她說：「請王提說耶和華你的神為證，不讓追討血債的人增添毀滅，以免他們把我的兒子除滅了。」王說：「我指著耶和華的永生起誓：你兒子連一根頭髮也不會落在地上。」

婦曰、請王念爾上帝耶和華、不許報仇者復加殺害、免滅吾子、曰、我指維生之耶和華而誓、爾子之一髮、不隕於地、

曰、報仇之戚屬、欲加殺害、請王念爾之上帝耶和華、毋許其滅我子。王曰、我指耶和華以誓、汝子之一毫不隕於地。

婦曰、求王念主爾之天主、不許復仇者、更加殺害、恐滅我子、王曰、我指永生主而誓、爾子之一髮、亦不隕於地、

She said,“ Then let the king invoke the Lord his God to prevent the avenger of blood from adding to the destruction, so that my son will not be destroyed.”“ As surely as the Lord lives,” he said,“ not one hair of your son’s head will fall to the ground.”

She said,“ Please pray to the Lord your God. Pray that he will keep our nearest male relative from killing my other son. Then my son won’t be destroyed.”“ You can be sure that the Lord lives,” the king said.“ And you can be just as sure that not one hair of your son’s head will fall to the ground.”

Then she said,“ Please let the king invoke the Lord your God, that the avenger of blood kill no more, and my son be not destroyed.” He said,“ As the Lord lives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the ground.”

She replied,“ Please, may the king invoke the LORD your God, so that the avenger of blood will not increase the loss, and they will not eliminate my son!”“ As the LORD lives,” he vowed,“ not a hair of your son will fall to the ground.”

Then she said,“ May the king please remember the Lord your God, so that the avenger of blood will not continue to destroy, otherwise they will destroy my son.” And he said,“ As the Lord lives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the ground.”

Then she said,“ Please let the king remember the Lord your God, and do not permit the avenger of blood to destroy anymore, lest they destroy my son.” And he said,“ As the Lord lives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the ground.”

Then said she, I pray thee, let the king remember Jehovah thy God, that the avenger of blood destroy not any more, lest they destroy my son. And he said, As Jehovah liveth, there shall not one hair of thy son fall to the earth.

She replied,“ Please, may the king invoke the Lord your God, so that the avenger of blood will not increase the loss, and they will not eliminate my son!”“ As the Lord lives,” he vowed,“ not a hair of your son will fall to the ground.”

Then said she, I pray thee, let the king remember the LORD thy God, that thou wouldest not suffer the revengers of blood to destroy any more, lest they destroy my son. And he said,[ As] the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of thy son fall to the earth.

She replied,“ In that case, let the king invoke the name of the LORD your God so that the avenger of blood may not kill! Then they will not destroy my son!” He replied,“ As surely as the LORD lives, not a single hair of your son’s head will fall to the ground.”

Then she said,“ Please let the king remember Yahweh your God, that the avenger of blood destroy not any more, lest they destroy my son.” He said,“ As Yahweh lives, not one hair of your son shall fall to the earth.”

But the people broke in and said to Saul,“ Jonathan has won this great victory for Israel. Should he die? Far from it! As surely as the Lord lives, not one hair on his head will be touched, for God helped him do a great deed today.” So the people rescued Jonathan, and he was not put to death.

The victim’s nearest relative is responsible for putting the murderer to death. When they meet, the avenger must put the murderer to death.

And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.

“ If someone kills another person unintentionally, without previous hostility, the slayer may flee to any of these cities to live in safety.For example, suppose someone goes into the forest with a neighbor to cut wood. And suppose one of them swings an ax to chop down a tree, and the ax head flies off the handle, killing the other person. In such cases, the slayer may flee to one of the cities of refuge to live in safety.“ If the distance to the nearest city of refuge is too far, an enraged avenger might be able to chase down and kill the person who caused the death. Then the slayer would die unfairly, since he had never shown hostility toward the person who died.That is why I am commanding you to set aside three cities of refuge.“ And if the Lord your God enlarges your territory, as he swore to your ancestors, and gives you all the land he promised them,you must designate three additional cities of refuge.( He will give you this land if you are careful to obey all the commands I have given you— if you always love the Lord your God and walk in his ways.)That way you will prevent the death of innocent people in the land the Lord your God is giving you as your special possession. You will not be held responsible for the death of innocent people.

Or if someone hates another person and hits him with a fist and he dies, it is murder. In such cases, the avenger must put the murderer to death when they meet.

Solomon replied,“ If he proves himself to be loyal, not a hair on his head will be touched. But if he makes trouble, he will die.”

“ Please eat something now for your own good. For not a hair of your heads will perish.”

But Saul took an oath in the name of the Lord and promised,“ As surely as the Lord lives, nothing bad will happen to you for doing this.”

At last Jonathan said to David,“ Go in peace, for we have sworn loyalty to each other in the Lord’s name. The Lord is the witness of a bond between us and our children forever.” Then David left, and Jonathan returned to the town.

Anyone who kills another person accidentally and unintentionally can run to one of these cities; they will be places of refuge from relatives seeking revenge for the person who was killed.“ Upon reaching one of these cities, the one who caused the death will appear before the elders at the city gate and present his case. They must allow him to enter the city and give him a place to live among them.If the relatives of the victim come to avenge the killing, the leaders must not release the slayer to them, for he killed the other person unintentionally and without previous hostility.But the slayer must stay in that city and be tried by the local assembly, which will render a judgment. And he must continue to live in that city until the death of the high priest who was in office at the time of the accident. After that, he is free to return to his own home in the town from which he fled.”

Then when you swear by my name, saying,‘ As surely as the Lord lives,’ you could do so with truth, justice, and righteousness. Then you would be a blessing to the nations of the world, and all people would come and praise my name.”

Abram replied to the king of Sodom,“ I solemnly swear to the Lord, God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth,

and the avenger finds him outside the city and kills him, it will not be considered murder.

If you mistreat my daughters or if you marry other wives, God will see it even if no one else does. He is a witness to this covenant between us.

One day Abraham said to his oldest servant, the man in charge of his household,“ Take an oath by putting your hand under my thigh.Swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and earth, that you will not allow my son to marry one of these local Canaanite women.
