“你們要謹守我的律例。不可使你的牲畜與不同類的交合；在你的田裡不可撒兩種不同類的種子；兩樣料子作成的衣服，你不可穿在身上。

於是拿伯城裡的人，就是那些與拿伯同住一城的長老和貴胄，都照著耶洗別送給他們的信上所寫的去行。他們宣告禁食，使拿伯坐在民間的首席上。然後兩個匪徒來坐在拿伯的對面。這兩個流氓當眾作見證控告拿伯，說：“拿伯曾經咒詛神和君王。”眾人就把拿伯拉出城外，用石頭打他，把他打死了。

於是王差派一個五十夫長和他的五十名手下到以利亞那裡；那位五十夫長就上到以利亞那裡去。他看見以利亞正坐在山頂上，就對以利亞說：“神人哪！王吩咐你下來。”以利亞回答五十夫長說：“如果我是神人，願火從天降下，把你和你的五十名手下吞滅。”於是有火從天降下，吞滅了五十夫長和他的五十名手下。王再次派一個五十夫長和他的五十名手下到以利亞那裡去。那五十夫長對以利亞說：“神人哪！王這樣吩咐：‘你趕快下來。’”以利亞回答他們說：“如果我是神人，願火從天降下，把你和你的五十名手下吞滅。”於是神的火從天降下，吞滅了五十夫長和他的五十名手下。
