In the course of time, Amnon son of David fell in love with Tamar, the beautiful sister of Absalom son of David.

Now Absalom, David’s son, had a beautiful sister, whose name was Tamar. And after a time Amnon, David’s son, loved her.

Don’t lust after her beauty in your heart, neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised.

God’s sons saw that men’s daughters were beautiful, and they took any that they wanted for themselves as wives.

Then Amnon hated her with exceedingly great hatred; for the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. Amnon said to her,“ Arise, be gone!”
