Why have you despised Yahweh’s word, to do that which is evil in his sight? You have struck Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

Why did you despise the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.

Why did you turn your back on what I told you to do? You did what is evil in my sight. You made sure that Uriah, the Hittite, would be killed in battle. You took his wife to be your own. You let the men of Ammon kill him with their swords.

Why have you despised the word of the Lord, to do what is evil in his sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife to be your wife and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.

Why, then, have you despised the word of the Lord and done this horrible deed? For you have murdered Uriah the Hittite with the sword of the Ammonites and stolen his wife.

Why then have you despised the LORD’s command by doing what I consider evil? You struck down Uriah the Hethite with the sword and took his wife as your own wife— you murdered him with the Ammonite’s sword.

Why have you despised the word of the Lord, by doing evil in His sight? You have struck and killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword, you have taken his wife as your wife, and you have slaughtered him with the sword of the sons of Ammon.

Why have you despised the commandment of the Lord, to do evil in His sight? You have killed Uriah the Hittite with the sword; you have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the people of Ammon.

Wherefore hast thou despised the word of Jehovah, to do that which is evil in his sight? thou hast smitten Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.

Why then have you despised the command of the Lord by doing what I consider evil? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife as your own wife— you murdered him with the Ammonite’s sword.

Why then didn’t you obey Yahweh’s voice, but took the plunder, and did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight?”

A man who disregards Moses’ law dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses.How much worse punishment do you think he will be judged worthy of who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as idolatry and teraphim. Because you have rejected Yahweh’s word, he has also rejected you from being king.”

Yahweh says:“ For three transgressions of Judah, yes, for four, I will not turn away its punishment; because they have rejected Yahweh’s law, and have not kept his statutes, and their lies have led them astray, after which their fathers walked;

David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in to him, and he lay with her( for she was purified from her uncleanness); and she returned to her house.

Now therefore the sword will never depart from your house, because you have despised me, and have taken Uriah the Hittite’s wife to be your wife.’

In the morning, David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah.He wrote in the letter, saying,“ Send Uriah to the forefront of the hottest battle, and retreat from him, that he may be struck, and die.”When Joab kept watch on the city, he assigned Uriah to the place where he knew that valiant men were.The men of the city went out, and fought with Joab. Some of the people fell, even of David’s servants; and Uriah the Hittite died also.Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war;and he commanded the messenger, saying,“ When you have finished telling all the things concerning the war to the king,it shall be that, if the king’s wrath arise, and he asks you,‘ Why did you go so near to the city to fight? Didn’t you know that they would shoot from the wall?Who struck Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? Didn’t a woman cast an upper millstone on him from the wall, so that he died at Thebez? Why did you go so near the wall?’ then you shall say,‘ Your servant Uriah the Hittite is also dead.’”So the messenger went, and came and showed David all that Joab had sent him for.The messenger said to David,“ The men prevailed against us, and came out to us into the field, and we were on them even to the entrance of the gate.The shooters shot at your servants from off the wall; and some of the king’s servants are dead, and your servant Uriah the Hittite is also dead.”Then David said to the messenger,“ Tell Joab,‘ Don’t let this thing displease you, for the sword devours one as well as another. Make your battle stronger against the city, and overthrow it.’ Encourage him.”When Uriah’s wife heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband.When the mourning was past, David sent and took her home to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased Yahweh.

if they do that which is evil in my sight, that they not obey my voice, then I will repent of the good with which I said I would benefit them.

I will surely require accounting for your life’s blood. At the hand of every animal I will require it. At the hand of man, even at the hand of every man’s brother, I will require the life of man.Whoever sheds man’s blood, his blood will be shed by man, for God made man in his own image.

“ You shall not murder.“ You shall not commit adultery.

Against you, and you only, I have sinned, and done that which is evil in your sight, so you may be proved right when you speak, and justified when you judge.

Therefore as the tongue of fire devours the stubble, and as the dry grass sinks down in the flame, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust, because they have rejected the law of Yahweh of Armies, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me.You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar.

You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.

He also made his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom. He practiced sorcery, divination, and witchcraft, and dealt with those who had familiar spirits and with wizards. He did much evil in Yahweh’s sight, to provoke him to anger.

“‘ But the soul who does anything with a high hand, whether he is native- born or a foreigner, blasphemes Yahweh. That soul shall be cut off from among his people.Because he has despised Yahweh’s word, and has broken his commandment, that soul shall be utterly cut off. His iniquity shall be on him.’”
