So David sent a message to Joab that said,“ Send me Uriah the Hittite.” So Joab sent Uriah to David.

The one who covers his transgressions will not prosper, but whoever confesses them and forsakes them will find mercy.

Moreover, the men of the place said,‘ There has been no cult prostitute here.’”Judah said,“ Let her keep the things for herself. Otherwise we will appear to be dishonest. I did indeed send this young goat, but you couldn’t find her.”

Saul again replied,“ I have sinned. But please honor me before the elders of my people and before Israel. Go back with me so I may worship the LORD your God.”

He denied it again with an oath,“ I do not know the man!”

At that he began to curse, and he swore with an oath,“ I do not know the man!” At that moment a rooster crowed.
