He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper; But whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy.

But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

And they said, There hath been no prostitute here.And he returned to Judah, and said, I have not found her; and also the men of the place said, There hath been no prostitute here.And Judah said, Let her take it to her, lest we be put to shame: behold, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her.

Then he said, I have sinned: yet honor me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship Jehovah thy God.

And again he denied with an oath, I know not the man.

Then began he to curse and to swear, I know not the man. And straightway the cock crew.
