押尼珥回到希伯崙，約押領他轉到城門的甕洞裏，彷彿要和他說機密話的樣子，就在那裏刺透他的五臟，他便死了：這是為他兄弟亞撒黑報血仇的。

因此當日基甸被稱為耶路巴力，意思是說：他拆毁巴力祭壇，「讓巴力和他爭辯吧。」

他們都必應時對你說：「你也變為衰弱、像我們一樣啊！你也跟我們相似啊！」

撒瑪利亞所犯的罪還沒有你的一半；你增加了可厭惡之事比她還多，以致你姐妹因你所行一切可厭惡之事倒顯得罪輕。你既判定你姐妹比較罪輕，那麼你，你也就要擔受你自己的羞辱啊；因為你犯的罪比她們的更可厭惡，她們比你更顯得罪輕，那麼你，你也就要擔受你自己的羞辱了。

你的手未曾被捆綁；你的腳未曾被銅鍊鎖住；你的仆倒、竟如人在橫暴之輩面前仆倒一樣！』於是眾民繼續為押尼珥哀哭。

求你援救我脫離我一切過犯；不要使我受愚頑人的羞辱。

亞比米勒到提備斯，對提備斯紮營，就攻取了那城。城中有一座堅固的譙樓；那城的眾公民、男男女女、都逃到那裏，關上門，上了譙樓的房頂。亞比米勒來到譙樓前、攻打譙樓；他挨近樓門口，要放火燒。有一個婦人把一塊上磨石丟在亞比米勒的頭上，正壓破了他的頭蓋骨。他急忙喊叫拿軍器的青年護兵，對他說：『拔刀殺死我吧！免得有人議論我說：「是個婦人殺了我的。」』於是他的青年護兵把他一刺，他就死了。
