1 Kings 21 8-1 Kings 21 10
So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, and sealed[ them] with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that[ were] in his city, dwelling with Naboth. And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people:And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And[ then] carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.
Surely men of low degree[ are] vanity,[ and] men of high degree[ are] a lie: to be laid in the balance, they[ are] altogether[ lighter] than vanity.
Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they[ be] all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.And they bend their tongues[ like] their bow[ for] lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.
That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge[ asketh] for a reward; and the great[ man], he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.The best of them[ is] as a brier: the most upright[ is sharper] than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen[ and] thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.
Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous[ sins]; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
The heart[ is] deceitful above all[ things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?
