The Ammonites realized that what they had done had made David very angry with them. So they hired 20,000 Aramean soldiers who were on foot. The soldiers came from Beth Rehob and Zobah. The Ammonites also hired the king of Maakah and 1,000 men. And they hired 12,000 men from Tob.

When the Ammonites saw that they had become a stench to David, the Ammonites sent and hired the Syrians of Beth-rehob, and the Syrians of Zobah, 20,000 foot soldiers, and the king of Maacah with 1,000 men, and the men of Tob, 12,000 men.

瑣巴王利合的兒子哈大底謝往大河去、要伸展他的權勢，大衛擊敗了他。

大馬色的亞蘭人來幫助瑣巴王哈大底謝，大衛就擊殺了亞蘭人二萬二千。

雅各對西緬和利未說：『你們把我搞壞了，使我在這地的居民中，在迦南人和比利洗人中間，有了臭名。我人數既然稀少，他們是會聚集來攻打我、擊殺我的，那我和我的家就被消滅了。』

也沒有人援救，因為離西頓很遠，他們又和別人沒有來往。城在那屬伯利合的山谷中。但人就重建那城，住在那裏，

耶弗他就從他弟兄面前逃跑，去住在陀伯地；有些無賴子在耶弗他那裏耙到一塊，和他一同出入。

亞捫人一攻打了以色列，基列的長老就去、要把耶弗他從陀伯地請來；

亞吉信了大衛，心裏說：『他已經使自己在以色列中、在自己的族人中、有了大臭名，他必永遠做我的臣僕了。』

就對他們說：『願永恆主鑒察你們，審判你們，因為你們使我們的香氣在法老和他臣僕面前都發臭了，你們把刀遞在他們手中來殺我們。』

萬族之民哪，明白吧，你們終必驚慌；遠地之眾民哪，側耳以聽哦！束起腰吧，你們終必驚慌；束起腰吧，你們終必驚慌。謀畫陰謀吧，終必歸於失敗；一言言定吧，終必不能成立；因為上帝與我們同在。

從以東、從摩押、從亞捫人、非利士人、亞瑪力人，從瑣巴王利合的兒子哈大底謝、所掠得來的、都分別為聖，獻與永恆主。

以色列眾人聽說掃羅擊打非利士人的駐防兵，又聽說以色列人在非利士人中成了臭名，就有步兵應召而來、跟隨掃羅在吉甲。

亞捫人見自己弄成了大衛所厭惡的，哈嫩和亞捫人就打發人拿一千擔銀子去從米所波大米、亞蘭瑪迦、瑣巴、雇了戰車和馬兵。他們雇了三萬二千輛戰車、和瑪迦王跟他的兵眾；他們來、紮營在米底巴前面。亞捫人也從他們的各城聚集，出來要交戰。

你不可冒然出去爭論；因為你鄰舍若羞辱你，你到底要怎麼辦呢？

又有基列地、基述人瑪迦人的地界，整個黑門山、整個巴珊、直到撒迦；又有噩的全國在巴珊；他在亞斯他錄和以得來作王；利乏音人所留下來的只剩了他：這些地方的人、摩西都把他們擊敗、並趕出了。以色列人卻沒有趕出基述人瑪迦人；基述人瑪迦人到今日仍然住在以色列中。

瑪拿西的子孫睚珥取了亞珥歌伯全區、直到基述人和瑪迦人的邊界，就按自己的名字將這些村子將巴珊叫做哈倭特睚珥，直到今日還用那名稱。）
