When David was told about this, he sent messengers to meet the men, for they were greatly humiliated. The king said,“ Stay at Jericho till your beards have grown, and then come back.”

David was told about it. So he sent messengers to his men because they were filled with shame. King David said to them,“ Stay at Jericho until your beards grow out again. Then come back here.”

When it was told David, he sent to meet them, for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said,“ Remain at Jericho until your beards have grown and then return.”

When David heard what had happened, he sent messengers to tell the men,“ Stay at Jericho until your beards grow out, and then come back.” For they felt deep shame because of their appearance.

When messengers informed David, he sent servants to meet them, because the men were extremely humiliated. And the king said,“ Stay in Jericho until your beards grow back, and then you shall return.”

Messengers told David what had happened, so he summoned them, for the men were thoroughly humiliated. The king said,“ Stay in Jericho until your beards have grown again; then you may come back.”

众人就用火将城和其中所有的焚烧了；惟有金子、银子，和铜铁的器皿都放在耶和华殿的库中。约书亚却把妓女喇合与她父家，并她所有的，都救活了；因为她隐藏了约书亚所打发窥探耶利哥的使者，她就住在以色列中，直到今日。当时，约书亚叫众人起誓说：“有兴起重修这耶利哥城的人，当在耶和华面前受咒诅。他立根基的时候，必丧长子，安门的时候，必丧幼子。”

有人将臣仆所遇的事告诉大卫，他就差人去迎接他们，因为他们甚觉羞耻；告诉他们说：“可以住在耶利哥，等到胡须长起再回来。”

亚哈在位的时候，有伯特利人希伊勒重修耶利哥城；立根基的时候，丧了长子亚比兰；安门的时候，丧了幼子西割，正如耶和华藉嫩的儿子约书亚所说的话。
