大衛說：『我要以厚愛待拿轄的兒子哈嫩，如同他父親以厚愛待我一樣。於是大衛差遣臣僕做代表為哈嫩父親的喪事去慰問他。大衛的臣僕到了亞捫人的地方。

大衛說：「我要以恩慈對待納哈什的兒子哈嫩，就像他父親曾以恩慈對待我那樣。」於是大衛為哈嫩喪父一事派遣臣僕，藉著他們安慰他。大衛的臣僕來到亞捫人之地，

大闢曰、昔拿轄善待我、我必善待其子。乃遣臣僕、至哈嫩所、唁其喪父。大闢臣僕詣亞捫族之地。

David thought,“ I will show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, just as his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent a delegation to express his sympathy to Hanun concerning his father. When David’s men came to the land of the Ammonites,

David thought,“ I’m going to be kind to Hanun. His father Nahash was kind to me.” So David sent messengers to Hanun. He wanted them to tell Hanun how sad he was that Hanun’s father had died. David’s messengers went to the land of Ammon.

And David said,“ I will deal loyally with Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father dealt loyally with me.” So David sent by his servants to console him concerning his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the Ammonites.

David said,“ I am going to show loyalty to Hanun just as his father, Nahash, was always loyal to me.” So David sent ambassadors to express sympathy to Hanun about his father’s death. But when David’s ambassadors arrived in the land of Ammon,

Then David said,“ I’ll show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, just as his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent his emissaries to console Hanun concerning his father. However, when they arrived in the land of the Ammonites,

Then David said,“ I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, just as his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent some of his servants to console him about his father. But when David’s servants came to the land of the Ammonites,

Then David said,“ I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent by the hand of his servants to comfort him concerning his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the people of Ammon.

And David said, I will show kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness unto me. So David sent by his servants to comfort him concerning his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.

Then David said,“ I’ll show kindness to Hanun son of Nahash, just as his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent his emissaries to console Hanun concerning his father. However, when they arrived in the land of the Ammonites,

Then said David, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father shewed kindness unto me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.

David said,“ I will express my loyalty to Hanun son of Nahash just as his father was loyal to me.” So David sent his servants with a message expressing sympathy over his father’s death. When David’s servants entered the land of the Ammonites,

Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh Gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash,“ Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you.”

David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab, and he said to the king of Moab,“ Please let my father and my mother come out with you, until I know what God will do for me.”He brought them before the king of Moab; and they lived with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.

On that day they read in the book of Moses in the hearing of the people; and it was found written in it that an Ammonite and a Moabite should not enter into the assembly of God forever,because they didn’t meet the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, to curse them; however our God turned the curse into a blessing.It came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated all the mixed multitude from Israel.

An Ammonite or a Moabite shall not enter into Yahweh’s assembly; even to the tenth generation shall no one belonging to them enter into Yahweh’s assembly forever,because they didn’t meet you with bread and with water on the way when you came out of Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor from Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.Nevertheless Yahweh your God wouldn’t listen to Balaam, but Yahweh your God turned the curse into a blessing to you, because Yahweh your God loved you.You shall not seek their peace nor their prosperity all your days forever.

Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said,“ What they are building, if a fox climbed up it, he would break down their stone wall.”“ Hear, our God; for we are despised. Turn back their reproach on their own head. Give them up for a plunder in a land of captivity.Don’t cover their iniquity. Don’t let their sin be blotted out from before you; for they have insulted the builders.”So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together to half its height: for the people had a mind to work.But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem went forward, and that the breaches began to be filled, they were very angry;
