掃羅素為英武、在吉破山遺棄其干、雖沐以膏、無異凡民、故願在彼、露不零、雨不降、亦願在彼田無所產、祭品不獻。

“ Mountains of Gilboa, may you have neither dew nor rain, may no showers fall on your terraced fields. For there the shield of the mighty was despised, the shield of Saul— no longer rubbed with oil.

“ Mountains of Gilboa, may no dew or rain fall on you. May no showers fall on your hillside fields. The shield of the mighty king wasn’t respected there. The shield of Saul lies there. It isn’t rubbed with oil anymore.

“ You mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew or rain upon you, nor fields of offerings! For there the shield of the mighty was defiled, the shield of Saul, not anointed with oil.

O mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew or rain upon you, nor fruitful fields producing offerings of grain. For there the shield of the mighty heroes was defiled; the shield of Saul will no longer be anointed with oil.

Mountains of Gilboa, let no dew or rain be on you, or fields of offerings, for there the shield of the mighty was defiled— the shield of Saul, no longer anointed with oil.

“ O mountains of Gilboa, Let there be no dew nor rain upon you, Nor fields of offerings. For the shield of the mighty is cast away there! The shield of Saul, not anointed with oil.

Ye mountains of Gilboa,[ let there be] no dew, neither[ let there be] rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul,[ as though he had] not[ been] anointed with oil.

O mountains of Gilboa, may there be no dew or rain on you, nor fields of grain offerings! For it was there that the shield of warriors was defiled; the shield of Saul lies neglected without oil.

You mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew or rain on you, and no fields of offerings; For there the shield of the mighty was defiled and cast away, The shield of Saul was not anointed with oil.

Now the Philistines were fighting against Israel, and the men of Israel fled from the Philistines but fell fatally wounded on Mount Gilboa.

They set the table, they spread out the cloth, they eat, they drink;“ Rise up, captains, oil the shields!”

Then Samuel took the flask of oil, poured it on Saul’s head, kissed him, and said,“ Has the Lord not anointed you as ruler over His inheritance?

I will lay it waste; It will not be pruned nor hoed, But briars and thorns will come up. I will also command the clouds not to rain on it.”

Who knows, He might turn and relent, And leave a blessing behind Him, Resulting in a grain offering and a drink offering For the Lord your God.

The grain offering and the drink offering have been cut off From the house of the Lord. The priests mourn, The ministers of the Lord.

Now the Philistines fought against Israel, and the men of Israel fled from the Philistines but fell fatally wounded on Mount Gilboa.

It came about the next day, when the Philistines came to strip those killed, that they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.

“ May the day on which I was to be born perish, As well as the night which said,‘ A boy is conceived.’May that day be darkness; May God above not care for it, Nor light shine on it.May darkness and black gloom claim it; May a cloud settle on it; May the blackness of the day terrify it.As for that night, may darkness seize it; May it not rejoice among the days of the year; May it not come into the number of the months.Behold, may that night be barren; May no joyful shout enter it.May those curse it who curse the day, Who are prepared to disturb Leviathan.May the stars of its twilight be darkened; May it wait for light but have none, And may it not see the breaking dawn;Because it did not shut the opening of my mother’s womb, Or hide trouble from my eyes.

‘ Curse Meroz,’ said the angel of the Lord,‘ Utterly curse its inhabitants, Because they did not come to the help of the Lord, To the help of the Lord against the warriors.’

Cursed be the day when I was born; May the day when my mother gave birth to me not be blessed!Cursed be the man who brought the news To my father, saying,“ A boy has been born to you!” And made him very happy.But may that man be like the cities Which the Lord overthrew without relenting, And may he hear an outcry in the morning And an alarm for war at noon;

‘ This is what the Lord God says:“ On the day when it went down to Sheol I caused mourning; I closed the deep over it and held back its rivers. And its many waters were stopped up, and I made Lebanon mourn for it, and all the trees of the field wilted away on account of it.
