Long ago, God’s word brought the heavens into being. His word separated the earth from the waters. And the waters surrounded it. But these people forget things like that on purpose.

我儕因信、則知諸世界以天主命而造、致所見之物、非由有形者出、

天主曰、水中當有空氣、以分上下之水、

天主曰、天下諸水、當滙一區、使現陸地、有如此也、

主安地基在海中、奠地在河邊、

闢地在水上、主之恩慈、永遠常存、

及種種惑眾之邪惡、在將沈淪者之中、蓋彼眾不悅真理、且不受之而得救、故天主使其大謬、信從虛偽、使凡不信真理反悅不義者、悉被定罪、○

諸天藉主命受造、天上萬象、亦由主口之氣而成、

彼既不願存天主於念、天主聽其存邪僻之心、行所不當行者、

彼先於萬物、萬物藉彼而立、

夫光臨世、而人因所行者惡、愛暗而不愛光、定罪之故、即在此也、蓋凡作不善者、惡光而不就光、恐其所行被責、

愚者既無頴悟、執金於手以市智慧、亦屬徒然、
