Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

佇望仰慕上帝顯日、其顯則天爇而崩、有形色者焚而燬、

希望切慕天主之日至、是日天將被火焚燬、體質被烈燄銷鎔、

翼翼事主、以速主日之臨、蓋正惟諸天焚化、物質消溶、

as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat.

Live like this as you look forward to the day of God. Living like this will make the day come more quickly. On that day fire will destroy the heavens. Its heat will melt everything in them.

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:Who shall also confirm you unto the end,[ that ye may be] blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform[ it] until the day of Jesus Christ:
