他們明知道正路，卻背棄了傳給他們的神聖誡命，這樣倒不如不知道的好。

既識道矣、猶棄所受之聖命、孰若不識道義之為美、

既識義道、竟背所受之聖命、莫若不識之為美、

蓋與其知道而背命、孰若初未聞道之為愈乎？

It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them.

Suppose they had not known the way of godliness. This would have been better than to know godliness and then turn away from it. The way of godliness is the sacred command passed on to them.

For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.

義人若棄善行惡，與惡人同流合污，這人豈能活著？他從前的義行不會被記念，他必因自己的背信和罪惡而滅亡。

所以人若知道善而不去行，就是犯罪。

有些人曾蒙上帝光照，嚐過天賜恩典的滋味，有份於聖靈，嚐過上帝之道的甘美，領悟到永世的權能，卻背棄了真道，讓他們重新悔改是不可能的。因為他們等於把上帝的兒子重新釘在十字架上，使祂再度公開受辱。

明知主人的意思卻不準備，也不遵行主人吩咐的僕人，必受更重的責打。

如果一個義人偏離正道、犯罪作惡，我會使他跌倒，他必死亡。如果你不告誡他，他必死在罪惡之中，他以前的義行也不會被記念，而我要追究你的責任。

其實律法是聖潔的，誡命也是聖潔、公義、良善的。

耶穌說：「如果你們是瞎眼的，就沒有罪了。但現在你們自稱看得見，所以你們的罪還在。」

剷除離棄我、不尋求我、不求問我的人。」

我如果沒有來教導他們，他們就沒有罪了，但現在他們的罪無可推諉。

白髮是榮耀的冠冕，行為公義方能得到。

你們都知道我們靠著主耶穌傳給你們的誡命。

因為約翰來指示你們當行的正路，你們不信他，但稅吏和娼妓信了。你們親眼看見了這些事，竟然還是執迷不悟，不肯信他。

他們滿口惡言謊話，毫無智慧和善行。他們躺在床上盤算作惡，執意走罪惡的道路，無惡不作。

公義的道上有生命，公義的路上無死亡。

我看見她玷污了自己，與姐姐的行徑如出一轍。

耶和華必把那些偏行惡道的人與作惡的人一同趕走。願平安臨到以色列。

「迦百農啊，你將被提升到天上嗎？不！你將被打落到陰間。因為若把在你那裡所行的神蹟行在所多瑪，它肯定會存留到今天。所以我告訴你們，在審判之日，你們所受的刑罰將比所多瑪所受的還要重！」
