以自由為號召、而自身則為腐敗之奴隸。蓋為邪惡所克者、即成邪惡之奴矣。

They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity— for“ people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.”

耶穌說：「我實實在在地告訴你們，所有犯罪的人都是罪的奴隸。

你們難道不明白嗎？你們獻身給誰、服從誰，就是誰的奴隸。做罪的奴隸，結局是死亡；作上帝的奴僕，就被稱為義人。感謝上帝！你們從前雖然做過罪的奴隸，現在卻衷心服從了所傳給你們的教導，從罪中得到釋放，成為義的奴僕。因為你們有人性的軟弱，我就從人的立場向你們解釋。以前你們將身體獻給骯髒不法的事，任其奴役，助長不法。現在你們要將身體奉獻給義，為義效勞，成為聖潔的人。你們做罪的奴隸時，不受義的約束，做了現在想起來也覺得羞恥的事，得到了什麼益處呢？那些事只能導致死亡！但現在你們已從罪中得到釋放，作了上帝的奴僕，這樣會使你們聖潔，最終得到永生。

弟兄姊妹，你們蒙召得了自由，但不要以自由為藉口來放縱情慾，要本著愛心互相服侍，

你們是自由的人，不要以自由為藉口去犯罪作惡，要作上帝的奴僕。

基督釋放了我們，是要我們得自由。所以，要站穩了，不要再被奴僕的軛轄制。

論到那些先知，我的心都碎了，我的骨頭都顫抖。因為耶和華和祂聖言的緣故，我好像不勝酒力的醉漢。

從前我們也愚蠢、悖逆、易受迷惑，受各種私慾和享樂的驅使，心裡充滿了嫉妒和惡念，令人憎惡，也彼此憎恨。

以法蓮酒徒引以為榮的華冠有禍了！它座落在醉酒者肥美的山谷頂上，它的榮美如將殘之花。

所以，不要讓罪辖制你們必死的身體，使你們順從身體的私慾；也不要將你們的身體獻給罪作不義的工具，而是要像一個從死裡復活的人將自己奉獻給上帝，把身體獻給上帝作義的工具。罪不能再主宰你們，因為你們已經不在律法之下，而是在恩典之中。

讓他們這些被魔鬼擄去、受其擺佈的人能夠醒悟過來，脫離魔鬼的網羅。

如果他們藉著認識我們的主和救主耶穌基督，已經擺脫了世俗的污穢，但後來又被這些事纏住、俘虜了，他們的處境會比以前更糟糕。
