But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey— an animal without speech— who spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.

But a donkey corrected him for the wrong he did. Animals don’t speak. But the donkey spoke with a human voice. It tried to stop the prophet from doing a very dumb thing.

巴蘭早晨起來，備了驢，就和摩押的官員一同去了。上帝因他去就怒氣發作；耶和華的使者站在路中間敵對他。他騎着驢，有兩個僕人跟隨他。驢看見耶和華的使者站在路中間，手裏有拔出來的刀，就離開了路，岔入田間。巴蘭就打驢，要牠回到路上。耶和華的使者站在葡萄園的窄路上，這邊有牆，那邊也有牆。驢看見耶和華的使者，就往牆擠去，把巴蘭的腳擠到牆上；巴蘭再打驢。耶和華的使者又往前去，站在狹窄的地方，那裏左右都無路可轉。驢看見耶和華的使者，就伏在巴蘭底下。巴蘭怒氣發作，用杖打驢。耶和華使驢開口，對巴蘭說：「我向你做了甚麼，你竟打我這三次呢？」巴蘭對驢說：「因為你戲弄我，我恨不得手中有刀，現在就把你殺了。」驢對巴蘭說：「我不是你從小直到今天所騎的驢嗎？我平時有這樣待過你嗎？」巴蘭說：「沒有。」耶和華使巴蘭的眼目明亮，他看見耶和華的使者站在路中間，手裏有拔出來的刀；巴蘭就低頭俯伏下拜。耶和華的使者對他說：「你為甚麼這三次打你的驢呢？看哪，我出來敵對你，因為這路在我面前已經偏離了。驢看見我就從我面前迴避了這三次；驢若沒有迴避我，我早把你殺了，留牠存活。」

在各會堂，我屢次用刑強迫他們說褻瀆的話，我非常厭惡他們，甚至追逼他們，直到外邦的城鎮。」

保羅這樣申訴時，非斯都大聲說：「保羅，你瘋了！你的學問太大，反使你瘋了！」保羅說：「非斯都大人，我不是瘋了，我說的乃是真實和清醒的話。

在日光之下發生的一切事中有一件禍患，就是眾人的際遇都一樣，並且世人的心充滿了惡；活着的時候心裏狂妄，後來就歸死人那裏去了。

我轉念，一心要知道，要考察，要尋求智慧和萬事的來由，要知道邪惡為愚昧，愚昧為狂妄。

若是你們在不義的錢財上不忠心，誰還把那真實的錢財託付你們呢？

降罰的日子近了，報應的時候已經來到。以色列必知道，先知愚昧，受靈感動的人狂妄，皆因你多多作惡，大懷怨恨。
