有此而擴充之、則知主耶穌基督道、而自不怠不荒、

爾有此、且充溢、則識我主耶穌基督而不怠荒、無不結果、

爾等苟能存養此等美德、使之發榮滋長於爾內心、則體認吾主耶穌基督、自覺日益親切、欲罷不能、必不致華而不實也。

For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

All these things should describe you more and more. They will make you useful and fruitful as you know our Lord Jesus Christ better.

For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

凡在我之枝、而不實者、則去之、實則潔之、使實尤繁也、

當以基督之道充實爾衷、智慧俱備、以詩、以歌、以靈賦、相教相戒、中心感恩、以頌上帝、

凡我同人、宜學善工、以資所需、免不結實、

致爾勿怠、惟效由信與忍而承所許者、○

故我所愛之兄弟、當貞固不搖、恆務主工、蓋知爾之勞於主者、非徒然也、

致爾與眾之信有效、得識爾所有之善、在於基督、

我所祈者、使爾愛於知識通達而愈充溢、

願恩惠平康、因識上帝及我主耶穌、益增於爾、

我若狂則為上帝、若自制、則為爾曹、蓋基督之愛策我矣、竊思一人為眾死、則眾已死、且其為眾死、使生者不仍為己而生、乃為代之死而起者生也、今而後我儕不以貌識人、雖曾以貌識基督、今不復如此識之、是以在基督中者、乃為新造之人、舊事已逝、諸事更新矣、

爾於凡事、若信、若言、若知識、若慇懃、以及向我之愛既溢、則於此惠亦宜如是、

巳初出見有閒立於市者、

爾宜自審、止於信否、亦宜自驗、豈不自知耶穌基督在爾衷乎、否則爾為見棄者矣、

習於暇逸、優游鄰舍、不第暇逸、亦妄誕滋事、言所不當言、

勤而毋怠、熱衷事主、

即屢試於難中而甚樂、且極貧而益彰施濟之厚、

懈怠致酣眠、惰者受飢餓、

酉初出、復見有立者、謂之曰、爾何終日閒立於此乎、

主曰、惡且惰之僕乎、爾知我未播而穫、未散而斂、

播於棘中者、乃人聽道、而世之慮、財之惑、蔽其道而不實、

又願主俾爾之相愛、益而充之、且及於眾、如我於爾然、

亦以上帝在爾中之厚恩、戀慕乎爾、為爾祈禱、

不恆在我者、猶枝見棄而槁、人拾而投於火焚之、若爾恆在我中、我言恆在爾中、凡爾所欲、求則成之、爾實孔繁、我父於此而榮、而爾乃為我徒也、

但知無上帝之愛於爾衷焉、

且於彼也、根深而建造、堅立於信、如昔受教然、而溢於祝謝焉、○

以基督耶穌之心為心、

兄弟乎、我為爾恆謝上帝、宜也、因爾之信彌長、彼此之愛益增、

兄弟乎、我猶有言、因主耶穌、求爾勸爾、依爾素受於我者、當如何行而悅上帝、既行之、則宜增益之、
