且由是錫以寶貴豐厚之許、俾爾得脫在世因慾之敗壞、克與夫上帝之性、

許我尊榮景福、不為斯世惡俗所囿、於上帝之性情、是則是傚、

又以己之榮與德、許我以至大至寶之恩、使我儕我儕原文作爾曹賴此得脫斯世由慾而生之敗壞、得與天主同性、

賴斯大榮大德、吾人復受有無上無疆之恩諾、俾吾人脫世俗縱情恣慾之腐敗惡習、得躋於神化之境、而融於天主之性。

Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

He has also given us his very great and valuable promises. He did it so you could share in his nature. You can share in it because you’ve escaped from the evil in the world. This evil is caused by sinful desires.

And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

又要將你們的心志改換一新，並且穿上新人；這新人是照着神的形像造的，有真理的仁義和聖潔。

我必用清水灑在你們身上，你們就潔淨了。我要潔淨你們，使你們脫離一切的污穢，棄掉一切的偶像。我也要賜給你們一個新心，將新靈放在你們裏面，又從你們的肉體中除掉石心，賜給你們肉心。我必將我的靈放在你們裏面，使你們順從我的律例，謹守遵行我的典章。

生身的父都是暫隨己意管教我們；惟有萬靈的父管教我們，是要我們得益處，使我們在他的聖潔上有分。

我們眾人既然敞着臉得以看見主的榮光，好像從鏡子裏返照，就變成主的形狀，榮上加榮，如同從主的靈變成的。

穿上了新人。這新人在知識上漸漸更新，正如造他主的形像。

又說：你們務要從他們中間出來，與他們分別；不要沾不潔淨的物，我就收納你們。我要作你們的父；你們要作我的兒女。這是全能的主說的。親愛的弟兄啊，我們既有這等應許，就當潔淨自己，除去身體、靈魂一切的污穢，敬畏神，得以成聖。

他們說虛妄矜誇的大話，用肉身的情慾和邪淫的事引誘那些剛才脫離妄行的人。他們應許人得以自由，自己卻作敗壞的奴僕，因為人被誰制伏就是誰的奴僕。倘若他們因認識主－救主耶穌基督，得以脫離世上的污穢，後來又在其中被纏住、制伏，他們末後的景況就比先前更不好了。

順着情慾撒種的，必從情慾收敗壞；順着聖靈撒種的，必從聖靈收永生。

凡接待他的，就是信他名的人，他就賜他們權柄作神的兒女。這等人不是從血氣生的，不是從情慾生的，也不是從人意生的，乃是從神生的。

如今耶穌所得的職任是更美的，正如他作更美之約的中保；這約原是憑更美之應許立的。那前約若沒有瑕疵，就無處尋求後約了。所以主指責他的百姓說：日子將到，我要與以色列家和猶大家另立新約，不像我拉着他們祖宗的手，領他們出埃及的時候，與他們所立的約。因為他們不恆心守我的約，我也不理他們。這是主說的。主又說：那些日子以後，我與以色列家所立的約乃是這樣：我要將我的律法放在他們裏面，寫在他們心上；我要作他們的神；他們要作我的子民。他們不用各人教導自己的鄉鄰和自己的弟兄，說：你該認識主；因為他們從最小的到至大的，都必認識我。我要寬恕他們的不義，不再記念他們的罪愆。

為此，他作了新約的中保，既然受死贖了人在前約之時所犯的罪過，便叫蒙召之人得着所應許永遠的產業。

作耶穌基督僕人和使徒的西門‧彼得寫信給那因我們的神和救主耶穌基督之義、與我們同得一樣寶貴信心的人。

你們存這樣的心，從今以後就可以不從人的情慾，只從神的旨意在世度餘下的光陰。因為往日隨從外邦人的心意行邪淫、惡慾、醉酒、荒宴、羣飲，並可惡拜偶像的事，時候已經夠了。

你們中間的爭戰鬥毆是從哪裏來的呢？不是從你們百體中戰鬥之私慾來的嗎？你們貪戀，還是得不着；你們殺害嫉妒，又鬥毆爭戰，也不能得。你們得不着，是因為你們不求。你們求也得不着，是因為你們妄求，要浪費在你們的宴樂中。

神的應許，不論有多少，在基督都是是的。所以藉着他也都是實在的，叫神因我們得榮耀。

所應許的原是向亞伯拉罕和他子孫說的。神並不是說「眾子孫」，指着許多人，乃是說「你那一個子孫」，指着一個人，就是基督。

他們是以色列人；那兒子的名分、榮耀、諸約、律法、禮儀、應許都是他們的。
