For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith:[ so do].

And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment[ was] white[ and] glistering.And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

That we[ henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men,[ and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself[ rather] unto godliness.

And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.And after six days Jesus taketh[ with him] Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he[ is] like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:

Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they[ also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as[ they were] from the beginning of the creation.

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.Did I make a gain of you by any of them whom I sent unto you?

And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.

But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what[ shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.And when the disciples heard[ it], they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.

For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

For what[ is] our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing?[ Are] not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

And declared[ to be] the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

[ Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
