About eight days after this conversation, he took along Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray.As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white.Suddenly, two men were talking with him— Moses and Elijah.They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure, which he was about to accomplish in Jerusalem.Peter and those with him were in a deep sleep, and when they became fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men who were standing with him.

For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel— not with eloquent wisdom, so that the cross of Christ will not be emptied of its effect.

Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit.

But have nothing to do with pointless and silly myths. Rather, train yourself in godliness.

Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother John and led them up on a high mountain by themselves.He was transfigured in front of them, and his face shone like the sun; his clothes became as white as the light.Suddenly, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with him.Then Peter said to Jesus,“ Lord, it’s good for us to be here. If you want, I will set up three shelters here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said,“ This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased. Listen to him!”When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown and were terrified.Jesus came up, touched them, and said,“ Get up; don’t be afraid.”When they looked up they saw no one except Jesus alone.

and may not pay attention to Jewish myths and the commands of people who reject the truth.

He will transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of his glorious body, by the power that enables him to subject everything to himself.

Instead, we have renounced secret and shameful things, not acting deceitfully or distorting the word of God, but commending ourselves before God to everyone’s conscience by an open display of the truth.

For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

For who is our hope or joy or crown of boasting in the presence of our Lord Jesus at his coming? Is it not you?

and was appointed to be the powerful Son of God according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection of the dead.

The coming of the lawless one is based on Satan’s working, with every kind of miracle, both signs and wonders serving the lie,

so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus came near and said to them,“ All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

since you gave him authority over all people, so that he may give eternal life to everyone you have given him.

For we do not market the word of God for profit like so many. On the contrary, we speak with sincerity in Christ, as from God and before God.
