You are to destroy the house of Ahab your master, and I will avenge the blood of my servants the prophets and the blood of all the Lord’s servants shed by Jezebel.

You must destroy the royal house of your master Ahab. I will pay them back for spilling the blood of my servants the prophets. I will also pay them back for the blood of all the Lord’ s servants that Jezebel spilled.

And you shall strike down the house of Ahab your master, so that I may avenge on Jezebel the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord.

and took a hundred prophets and hid them, fifty men to a cave, and provided them with food and water when Jezebel slaughtered the LORD’s prophets.

When Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned to death, she said to Ahab,“ Get up and take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite who refused to give it to you for silver, since Naboth isn’t alive, but dead.”

Rejoice, you nations, concerning his people, for he will avenge the blood of his servants. He will take vengeance on his adversaries; he will purify his land and his people.

Still, there was no one like Ahab, who devoted himself to do what was evil in the LORD’s sight, because his wife Jezebel incited him.

This is what the LORD says:‘ I am about to bring disaster on you and will eradicate your descendants: I will wipe out all of Ahab’s males, both slave and free, in Israel;

Vengeance and retribution belong to me. In time their foot will slip, for their day of disaster is near, and their doom is coming quickly.”

He looked up toward the window and said,“ Who is on my side? Who?” Two or three eunuchs looked down at him,and he said,“ Throw her down!” So they threw her down, and some of her blood splattered on the wall and on the horses, and Jehu rode over her.Then he went in, ate and drank, and said,“ Take care of this cursed woman and bury her, since she’s a king’s daughter.”But when they went out to bury her, they did not find anything but the skull, the feet, and the hands.So they went back and told him, and he said,“ This fulfills the LORD’s word that he spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite:‘ In the plot of land at Jezreel, the dogs will eat Jezebel’s flesh.Jezebel’s corpse will be like manure on the surface of the ground in the plot of land at Jezreel so that no one will be able to say: This is Jezebel.’”

LORD, God of vengeance— God of vengeance, shine!Rise up, Judge of the earth; repay the proud what they deserve.LORD, how long will the wicked— how long will the wicked celebrate?They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers boast.LORD, they crush your people; they oppress your heritage.They kill the widow and the resident alien and murder the fatherless.They say,“ The LORD doesn’t see it. The God of Jacob doesn’t pay attention.”

Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for God’s wrath, because it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.

For it is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For it is God’s servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong.

Rejoice over her, heaven, and you saints, apostles, and prophets, because God has pronounced on her the judgment she passed on you!

So all the righteous blood shed on the earth will be charged to you, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.

When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered because of the word of God and the testimony they had given.They cried out with a loud voice,“ Lord, the one who is holy and true, how long until you judge those who live on the earth and avenge our blood?”

Will not God grant justice to his elect who cry out to him day and night? Will he delay helping them?I tell you that he will swiftly grant them justice. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

because his judgments are true and righteous, because he has judged the notorious prostitute who corrupted the earth with her sexual immorality; and he has avenged the blood of his servants that was on her hands.

For we know the one who has said, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, and again, The Lord will judge his people.
