你這被毀壞的啊！你在幹甚麼？即使你穿上朱紅色的服裝，佩戴黃金飾物，用顏料畫大你的眼睛，你自炫漂亮，也是白費的。愛你的人仍然鄙視你，他們都在尋索你的命！

況且你們打發使者去請人從遠方來；使者到了他們那裡，他們就來了。為了他們，你們洗澡、替眼部化妝、佩戴珠寶，

照樣，我也願意女人以端正、嫻淑、自律為裝飾；不要以鬈髮、金飾、珠寶，或名貴衣裳為裝飾，卻要以善行作裝飾，這才配稱為敬畏神的女人。

到那日，主必除掉她們華美的腳釧、髮網、月牙圈、耳墜、手鐲、蒙臉的帕子、頭飾、腳環、華帶、香盒、符囊、戒指、鼻環、美服、外衣、錢袋、鏡子、細麻襯衣、頭巾、蒙身帕子。必有腐臭代替馨香，繩子代替腰帶，光禿代替美髮，麻衣繫腰代替美服，烙痕代替美貌。

不要單注重外表的裝飾，就如鬈頭髮、戴金飾、穿華麗衣服；

亞哈把以利亞所行的一切，和他用刀殺死眾先知的一切事，都告訴了耶洗別。耶洗別就差派一個使者去見以利亞說：“明天這個時候，如果我不使你的性命，像那些人一樣，願神明懲罰我，並且加倍懲罰我。”

只可靜默地歎息，不可為死人哀悼；你的頭上仍要纏著頭巾，腳上仍要穿著鞋子；你不可蒙著臉，也不可吃為喪家預備的食物。”
