You are to anoint Jehu son of Nimshi as king over Israel and Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel-meholah as prophet in your place.

After they were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying,“ Get up! Take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. For Herod is about to search for the child to kill him.”

“ By my great strength and outstretched arm, I made the earth, and the people, and animals on the face of the earth. Samuel asked,“ How can I go? Saul will hear about it and kill me!” The LORD answered,“ Take a young cow with you and say,‘ I have come to sacrifice to the LORD.’

He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed and consecrated him.

“ At this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin. Anoint him ruler over my people Israel. He will save them from the Philistines because I have seen the affliction of my people, for their cry has come to me.”

Ahaziah’s downfall came from God when he went to Joram. When Ahaziah arrived, he went out with Joram to meet Jehu son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.

So Jesse sent for him. He had beautiful eyes and a healthy, handsome appearance. Then the LORD said,“ Anoint him, for he is the one.”So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully on David from that day forward. Then Samuel set out and went to Ramah.

Hazael said,“ How could your servant, a mere dog, do such a mighty deed?” Elisha answered,“ The LORD has shown me that you will be king over Aram.”

Samuel told Saul,“ The LORD sent me to anoint you as king over his people Israel. Now, listen to the words of the LORD.

“ Look, I’m sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as serpents and as innocent as doves.

Samuel continued,“ Although you once considered yourself unimportant, haven’t you become the leader of the tribes of Israel? The LORD anointed you king over Israel
