When the lookout standing on the tower in Jezreel saw Jehu’s troops approaching, he called out,“ I see some troops coming.”“ Get a horseman,” Joram ordered.“ Send him to meet them and ask,‘ Do you come in peace?’”

For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman; let him declare what he seeth:and when he seeth a troop, horsemen in pairs, a troop of asses, a troop of camels, he shall hearken diligently with much heed.And he cried as a lion: O Lord, I stand continually upon the watch- tower in the day- time, and am set in my ward whole nights;and, behold, here cometh a troop of men, horsemen in pairs. And into whatsoever house ye shall enter, first say, Peace be to this house.And if a son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon him: but if not, it shall turn to you again.

Then he sent out a second on horseback, who came to them, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me.

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that are Jehovah’s remembrancers, take ye no rest,
