Elisha went to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Aram was ill. When the king was told,“ The man of God has come all the way up here,”

Then Elisha went to Damascus, and Ben-Hadad king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying,“ The man of God has come here.”

Now it came about after this, that Ben hadad the king of Aram gathered all his army, and went up and besieged Samaria.

And he gathered men to himself and became leader of a marauding band, after David killed those of Zobah; and they went to Damascus and stayed there, and reigned in Damascus.

Now Ben hadad, king of Aram, gathered all his army, and there were thirty two kings with him, and horses and chariots. And he went up and besieged Samaria, and fought against it.

For the head of Aram is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin( now within another sixty five years Ephraim will be broken to pieces, so that it is no longer a people),

One of his servants said,“ No, my lord, the king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”

And Ben hadad said to him,“ The cities which my father took from your father I will restore, and you can make streets for yourself in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria.” Ahab said,“ And I will let you go with this covenant.” So he made a covenant with him and let him go.

Now behold, a man of God came from Judah to Bethel by the word of the Lord, while Jeroboam was standing at the altar to burn incense.

Then he divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and defeated them, and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus.

Now this is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the sons of Israel before his death.

Now when the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho opposite him saw him, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah has settled on Elisha.” And they came to meet him and bowed down to the ground before him.

When it was reported to the Gazites, saying,“ Samson has come here,” they surrounded the place and lay in wait for him all night at the gate of the city. And they kept silent all night, saying,“ Let’s wait until the morning light, then we will kill him.”

Then the king sent to him a captain of fifty with his fifty men. And he went up to him, and behold, he was sitting on the top of the hill. And he said to him,“ You man of God, the king says,‘ Come down.’ ”But Elijah replied to the captain of fifty,“ If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.

When they did not find them, they began dragging Jason and some brothers before the city authorities, shouting,“ These men who have upset the world have come here also;

Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that was left in the treasuries of the house of the Lord and the treasuries of the king’s house, and handed it over to his servants. And King Asa sent them to Ben hadad the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Hezion, king of Aram, who lived in Damascus, saying,
