Just as Gehazi was telling the king how Elisha had restored the dead to life, the woman whose son Elisha had brought back to life came to appeal to the king for her house and land. Gehazi said,“ This is the woman, my lord the king, and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life.”

Elisha got up, walked back and forth across the room once, and then stretched himself out again on the child. This time the boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes!

So Haman took the robes and put them on Mordecai, placed him on the king’s own horse, and led him through the city square, shouting,“ This is what the king does for someone he wishes to honor!”Afterward Mordecai returned to the palace gate, but Haman hurried home dejected and completely humiliated.

We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever.

I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.

Saul recognized David’s voice and called out,“ Is that you, my son David?” And David replied,“ Yes, my lord the king.

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?

And as a lamb is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth.He was humiliated and received no justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.”The eunuch asked Philip,“ Tell me, was the prophet talking about himself or someone else?”So beginning with this same Scripture, Philip told him the Good News about Jesus.As they rode along, they came to some water, and the eunuch said,“ Look! There’s some water! Why can’t I be baptized?”

One day as the king of Israel was walking along the wall of the city, a woman called to him,“ Please help me, my lord the king!”
