Ahaziah went with Joram son of Ahab to war against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead. The Arameans wounded Joram;

Ahaziah joined forces with Joram. They went to war against Hazael at Ramoth Gilead. Joram was the son of Ahab. Hazael was king of Aram. The soldiers of Aram wounded King Joram.

When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said,“ It is the king of Israel!” Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and Yahweh helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.

On the next day, he took a thick cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died. Then Hazael reigned in his place.

The king of Israel said to his servants,“ You know that Ramoth Gilead is ours, and we do nothing, and don’t take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?”He said to Jehoshaphat,“ Will you go with me to battle to Ramoth Gilead?” Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel,“ I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”

Hazael said,“ Why do you weep, my lord?” He answered,“ Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set their strongholds on fire, and you will kill their young men with the sword, and will dash their little ones in pieces, and rip up their pregnant women.”Hazael said,“ But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he could do this great thing?” Elisha answered,“ Yahweh has shown me that you will be king over Syria.”

Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat,“ Should you help the wicked, and love those who hate Yahweh? Because of this, wrath is on you from before Yahweh.

He went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying,“ The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me against Moab to battle?” He said,“ I will go up. I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”

After some years, he went down to Ahab to Samaria. Ahab killed sheep and cattle for him in abundance, and for the people who were with him, and moved him to go up with him to Ramoth Gilead.Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah,“ Will you go with me to Ramoth Gilead?” He answered him,“ I am as you are, and my people as your people. We will be with you in the war.”

but king Joram had returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) Jehu said,“ If this is your thinking, then let no one escape and go out of the city, to go to tell it in Jezreel.”

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.

He who escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu will kill; and he who escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha will kill.
