以色列王對臣僕說：「你們都知道基列的拉末是我們的領土，我們豈能坐視不理，不從亞蘭王手中奪回來呢？」他問約沙法：「你願意跟我一起去攻打基列的拉末嗎？」約沙法回答說：「你我不分彼此，我的民就是你的民，我的馬就是你的馬。」

哈薛問：「我主為什麼哭呢？」以利沙說：「因為我知道你會加害以色列人。你會放火燒他們的堡壘，用刀殺戮他們的壯丁，摔死他們的孩童，剖開他們的孕婦。」哈薛說：「你僕人算什麼，不過是一條狗，怎能做這樣的大事呢？」以利沙說：「耶和華告訴我，你要做亞蘭王。」

哈拿尼先見的兒子耶戶出來迎接約沙法王，對他說：「你怎能幫助惡人，愛那憎恨耶和華的人呢？你這樣做已經惹怒耶和華了。

他還派人去對猶大王約沙法說：「摩押王背叛了我，你肯和我一起去攻打摩押嗎？」約沙法回覆說：「我肯去。你我不分彼此，我的軍隊就是你的軍隊，我的戰馬就是你的戰馬。

幾年後，約沙法下到撒瑪利亞拜訪亞哈。亞哈宰了很多牛羊款待他和他的隨從，又遊說他與自己一起去攻打基列的拉末。以色列王亞哈對猶大王約沙法說：「你願意與我一起去攻打基列的拉末嗎？」約沙法回答說：「你我不分彼此，我的民就是你的民，我必與你同去。」

他與哈薛交戰受傷後，回到耶斯列養傷。耶戶對屬下說：「如果你們要我做王，就不要讓任何人逃出城去耶斯列報信。」

以色列王和猶大王約沙法出兵攻打基列的拉末。

將來從哈薛刀下逃生的，必被耶戶殺死；從耶戶刀下逃生的，必被以利沙殺死。
