以色列王对臣仆说：“你们都知道基列的拉末是我们的领土，我们岂能坐视不理，不从亚兰王手中夺回来呢？”他问约沙法：“你愿意跟我一起去攻打基列的拉末吗？”约沙法回答说：“你我不分彼此，我的民就是你的民，我的马就是你的马。”

哈薛问：“我主为什么哭呢？”以利沙说：“因为我知道你会加害以色列人。你会放火烧他们的堡垒，用刀杀戮他们的壮丁，摔死他们的孩童，剖开他们的孕妇。”哈薛说：“你仆人算什么，不过是一条狗，怎能做这样的大事呢？”以利沙说：“耶和华告诉我，你要做亚兰王。”

哈拿尼先见的儿子耶户出来迎接约沙法王，对他说：“你怎能帮助恶人，爱那憎恨耶和华的人呢？你这样做已经惹怒耶和华了。

他还派人去对犹大王约沙法说：“摩押王背叛了我，你肯和我一起去攻打摩押吗？”约沙法回复说：“我肯去。你我不分彼此，我的军队就是你的军队，我的战马就是你的战马。

几年后，约沙法下到撒玛利亚拜访亚哈。亚哈宰了很多牛羊款待他和他的随从，又游说他与自己一起去攻打基列的拉末。以色列王亚哈对犹大王约沙法说：“你愿意与我一起去攻打基列的拉末吗？”约沙法回答说：“你我不分彼此，我的民就是你的民，我必与你同去。”

他与哈薛交战受伤后，回到耶斯列养伤。耶户对属下说：“如果你们要我做王，就不要让任何人逃出城去耶斯列报信。”

以色列王和犹大王约沙法出兵攻打基列的拉末。

将来从哈薛刀下逃生的，必被耶户杀死；从耶户刀下逃生的，必被以利沙杀死。
