You are to destroy the family of Ahab, your master. In this way, I will avenge the murder of my prophets and all the Lord’s servants who were killed by Jezebel.The entire family of Ahab must be wiped out. I will destroy every one of his male descendants, slave and free alike, anywhere in Israel.

His mother was Athaliah, a granddaughter of King Omri.Ahaziah also followed the evil example of King Ahab’s family, for his mother encouraged him in doing wrong.He did what was evil in the Lord’s sight, just as Ahab’s family had done. They even became his advisers after the death of his father, and they led him to ruin.

You must not intermarry with them. Do not let your daughters and sons marry their sons and daughters,for they will lead your children away from me to worship other gods. Then the anger of the Lord will burn against you, and he will quickly destroy you.
