In the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, when Jehoshaphat was king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, began to reign.

約沙法與列祖同寢、偕列祖葬於大衛之城、子約蘭繼之為王、約蘭有數弟、即約沙法子、亞薩利雅、耶希葉、撒迦利雅、亞薩利雅、迷迦勒、示法提雅、此皆以色列王約沙法子、其父存日厚賜以金銀寶物、亦賜以猶大鞏固之數邑、惟國賜於約蘭、因其為長子、約蘭繼父位、其國鞏固、以刃戮諸弟、及以色列牧伯數人、約蘭即位時、年三十有二歲、都耶路撒冷、在位八年、行惡於主前、效以色列列王之所為、與亞哈家所行無異、因娶亞哈之女為后也、雖然、主緣昔與大衛立約、仍不欲翦滅大衛家、循主所許大衛者、欲永賜光光或作明燈於大衛、爰及子孫、當此時以東人叛猶大、為己立王、約蘭率諸牧伯牧伯或作將帥及戰車以出徵、以東人環攻之、約蘭夜起、擊以東人及諸車長、如是、以東人叛猶大國、至今尚不服、當時立拿亦叛約蘭、因約蘭違棄主其列祖之天主、又在猶大山建諸邱壇、使耶路撒冷居民行邪、行邪即拜偶像下同誘惑猶大人、先知以利亞遺書約蘭曰、主爾祖大衛之天主如是云、爾不行爾父約沙法之道、與猶大王亞撒之道、乃效以色列列王之所為、使猶大人與耶路撒冷居民行邪、與亞哈家無異、又在爾父家殺愈爾之諸弟、故主必降大災於爾民、爾子、爾妻、與凡所有者、使爾患腸疾、日以加重、致爾腸墮、主激非利士人、與附古實之亞拉伯人、來攻約蘭、侵入猶大、刼王宮之貨財、擄其諸子與后妃、除季子約哈斯約哈斯又名亞哈謝外、不遺一子、此後、主擊約蘭、使之患腸疾、醫不能治、疾患多日、越二年、賜墮、痛極而卒、其民不為之焚物、不若昔之待其列祖然、約蘭即位時、年三十有二歲、都耶路撒冷、在位八年、逝世時民無慕之者、葬於大衛之城、惟不在列王之墓、
