哈薛說：“你僕人算甚麼？不過是一條狗罷了；怎可以作這樣的大事呢？”以利沙說：“耶和華已指示我，你要作王統治亞蘭。”

耶和華對他說：“你離去吧，從你來的路回到大馬士革的曠野去。你到了那裡，就要膏哈薛作亞蘭王。

雅比的兒子沙龍陰謀反叛他，在人民面前把他殺死，接續他作王。撒迦利雅其餘的事蹟，看哪，都寫在以色列諸王的年代誌上。這就是耶和華曾論到有關耶戶的話說：“你的子孫必坐在以色列的王位上，直到第四代。”這話果然應驗了。猶大王烏西雅在位第三十九年，雅比的兒子沙龍登基作王；他在撒瑪利亞作王一個月。迦底的兒子米拿現從得撒上去，到撒瑪利亞攻擊雅比人沙龍，把他殺死，接續他作王。

心利就進去擊打他，把他殺死了，接續他作王，這事發生在猶大王亞撒第二十七年。

跟隨大衛的人對他說：“耶和華曾應許你說：‘我要把你的仇敵交在你的手裡，你可以隨意待他。’看哪！今天就是時候了。”於是大衛起來，悄悄地割下掃羅外袍的衣邊。事後，大衛為了割下掃羅的衣邊，心中自責，就對跟隨他的人說：“我在耶和華面前絕對不能這樣對待我主耶和華的受膏者，我絕對不能動手攻擊他，因為他是耶和華的受膏者。”大衛用這些話阻止了跟隨他的人，不讓他們起來攻擊掃羅。掃羅起來，出了山洞，繼續走他的路去了。

所羅門王的臣僕，尼八的兒子耶羅波安也舉手攻擊王。他是洗利達的以法蓮人，他母親是個寡婦，名叫洗魯雅。他舉手攻擊王的情形是這樣的：所羅門重建米羅，修補他父親大衛城的破口；耶羅波安這個人原是個有才幹的人。所羅門見這個年輕人作事殷勤，就派他管理約瑟家的所有奴工。有一次，耶羅波安從耶路撒冷出來，示羅人亞希雅先知在路上遇見他。亞希雅身上穿著一件新衣，那時田野裡只有他們二人。亞希雅拿著自己身上所穿的新衣，把它撕成十二片，對耶羅波安說：“你拿十片去吧！因為耶和華以色列的神這樣說：‘看哪，我必從所羅門的手裡把國奪去，把十個支派賜給你。但是為了我的僕人大衛和為了我從以色列眾支派中所揀選的耶路撒冷的緣故，所羅門仍然可以擁有一個支派。因為他們離棄了我，去敬拜西頓人的女神亞斯他錄、摩押人的神基抹和亞捫人的神米勒公，沒有遵行我的道，行我眼中看為正的事，謹守我的律例典章，像他的父親大衛一樣。但是，我不會把整個國家從他的手裡奪去，我必使他終身作人君，是因我所揀選的僕人大衛謹守了我的誡命律例的緣故。我要從他兒子的手中把國奪去，賜給你十個支派。至於所羅門的兒子，我要給他一個支派，好使我的僕人大衛在我所揀選立我名的城耶路撒冷，在我面前常常有燈光。我要揀選你，使你可以照心裡想望的去統治。你必作以色列的王。

比加轄的軍長，利瑪利的兒子比加陰謀背叛他，在撒瑪利亞王宮的衛所擊殺他；與比加同謀的，有亞珥歌伯和亞利耶，以及和他一起的五十個基列人；比加把他殺死，接續他作王。

猶大王亞撒第三年，巴沙殺死了拿答接續他作王。

正如古時的格言：‘惡事出於惡人。’所以，我的手不敢傷害你。

耶西就派人去把大衛帶回來。他面色紅潤，眼目清秀，外貌英俊。耶和華說：“就是這一個，你起來膏立他吧！”撒母耳就拿起盛油的角，在他的兄長中膏立他。從那天起，耶和華的靈就大大感動大衛。後來撒母耳動身往拉瑪去了。

他在床上密謀作惡，定意行在不善的道路上，並不棄絕惡事。

耶戶拉滿弓，射中約蘭的背；箭從他的心窩穿出，他就倒在自己的車上。

那些在床上圖謀不義，並且行惡的人有禍了！因為他們的手有力量，天一亮，就作出來了。

烏西雅的兒子約坦在位第二十年，以拉的兒子何細亞陰謀背叛利瑪利的兒子比加，擊打他，把他殺死，接續他作王。

大衛卻對亞比篩說：“不可殺死他，因為有誰伸手傷害耶和華的受膏者而無罪呢？”大衛又說：“我指著永活的耶和華起誓，他或被耶和華擊打，或死期到了，或下到戰場陣亡了，我在耶和華面前，絕對不敢伸手傷害耶和華的受膏者。現在，你可以把掃羅頭旁的矛和水袋拿來，我們就走吧！”

心利看見城被攻佔，就走進了王宮的城堡裡，放火焚燒王宮，自焚而死。

你這毀滅人，自己卻不被毀滅的；你這行事詭詐，別人倒不以詭詐待你的，有禍了！你剛停止毀滅人的時候，自己就要被毀滅；你剛停止行詭詐的時候，別人就必以詭詐待你。
