恶人虽然没有人追赶，仍然逃跑；义人却像狮子，放胆无惧。

就要选择几座城，给你们作避难城，让误杀人的，就是无心杀死人的，可以逃到那里。它们可以作你们逃避报仇者的避难城，使误杀人的不至于死，直到他站在会众面前受审判。

有人靠车，有人靠马。我们却靠耶和华我们神的名。他们都屈身跌倒，我们却起来，挺身而立。

君王的心在耶和华手中，好像水沟的水，他可以随意转移。

“带领大军的君王都逃跑了，逃跑了；住在家中的妇女分得了战利品。

行毁灭的必来攻击一切城镇，没有一座城可以幸免；山谷必被蹂躏，平原必受破坏，正如耶和华所说的。你们要在摩押上面撒盐，因为它必成为废墟（“你们要在摩押上面撒盐，因为它必成为废墟”或译：“你们要把翅膀给摩押，因为它必飞去”）；它的城镇必成为荒凉，没有人在里面居住。

到那日，人必把那些自己所做、供自己敬拜的金偶像和银偶像，抛给田鼠和蝙蝠。

要解救自己，像羚羊脱离猎人的手，像飞鸟脱离捕鸟人的手。

想靠马得胜是枉然的；马虽然力大，也不能救人。

惊骇四面恐吓他，并且追赶他的脚踪。

行动迅速的不能逃走，强而有力的不能施展他的勇力，勇士也不能救自己；拿弓的人站立不住，跑得快的不能逃走，骑马的也不能救自己。到那日，最勇敢的战士，也是赤身逃跑。’这是耶和华的宣告。”

这两件事是不能更改的，因为神是决不说谎的。因此，我们这些逃进避难所的人，就大得安慰，抓紧那摆在我们面前的盼望。

那时，住在犹太的应当逃到山上；在房顶的不要下来拿家里的东西；在田里的也不要回去取衣服。
