「你吩咐以色列人把所有患痲瘋病、漏症和因碰過死屍而不潔淨的人，無論男女，都送到營外，免得他們玷污了營地，因為我住在其中。」以色列人就照耶和華對摩西的吩咐，把這些人送到營外。

耶和華對摩西說：「如果她父親在她臉上吐唾沫，她豈不也要蒙羞七天嗎？現在把她關在營外，七天後再讓她回來。」

他們說：「我們為什麼還坐在這裡？大家一起進入堅城，死在那裡吧！我們的上帝耶和華要毀滅我們，給我們毒藥喝，因為我們得罪了祂。

那時，王正與上帝僕人的侍者基哈西談話，讓基哈西把以利沙所做的一切大事講給他聽。

「患痲瘋病的人必須撕裂衣服，披頭散髮，遮住臉的下半部，高喊『不潔淨！不潔淨！』只要病不痊癒，他就不潔淨，要獨自住在營外。

如果我們進城，城裡正鬧饑荒，我們會餓死；但我們坐在這裡也是死，不如去投靠亞蘭軍。如果他們不殺我們，我們就能活命；如若不然，死就死吧！」

乃縵是亞蘭王的元帥，甚得亞蘭王器重，因為耶和華藉他使亞蘭人打了許多勝仗。他是英勇的戰士，只是患了痲瘋病。

你和你的人民何必死於戰爭、饑荒和瘟疫呢？耶和華要降這些災難給不肯臣服於巴比倫王的國家。
