So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said,“ Look, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” And he said,“ In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”

扶王之軍長謂上帝僕曰、即耶和華啟牖於天、豈能有此事乎、以利沙曰、爾必目睹、惟不得食、○

王之近臣、告上帝之僕曰、如耶和華破天之隙、可得此、否則不然。曰、爾可目睹、惟不得食。○

有一將、王倚其手者、謂神人曰、雖主使天啟口、亦不能有此事、神人曰、爾將目睹、惟不得食、○

The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God,“ Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?”“ You will see it with your own eyes,” answered Elisha,“ but you will not eat any of it!”

The king was leaning on an officer’s arm. The officer spoke to the man of God. The officer said,“ Suppose the Lord opens the sky and pours down food on us. Even if he does, could what you are saying really happen?”“ You will see it with your own eyes,” answered Elisha.“ But you won’t eat any of it!”

Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned said to the man of God,“ If the Lord himself should make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” But he said,“ You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”

The officer assisting the king said to the man of God,“ That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” But Elisha replied,“ You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!”

Then the captain, the king’s right-hand man, responded to the man of God,“ Look, even if the LORD were to make windows in heaven, could this really happen?” Elisha announced,“ You will in fact see it with your own eyes, but you won’t eat any of it.”

The royal officer on whose hand the king was leaning responded to the man of God and said,“ Even if the Lord were to make windows in heaven, could this thing happen?” Then he said,“ Behold, you are going to see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat any of it.”

Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if Jehovah should make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

Then the captain, the king’s right-hand man, responded to the man of God,“ Look, even if the Lord were to make windows in heaven, could this really happen?” Elisha announced,“ You will in fact see it with your own eyes, but you won’t eat any of it.”

Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold,[ if] the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see[ it] with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

An officer who was the king’s right-hand man responded to the prophet,“ Look, even if the LORD made it rain by opening holes in the sky, could this happen so soon?” Elisha said,“ Look, you will see it happen with your own eyes, but you will not eat any of the food!”

Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said,“ Behold, if Yahweh made windows in heaven, could this thing be?” He said,“ Behold, you will see it with your eyes, but will not eat of it.”

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts,“ If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying,“ After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my Lord being old also?”And the Lord said to Abraham,“ Why did Sarah laugh, saying,‘ shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?’Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”

For what if some did not believe? Will their unbelief make the faithfulness of God without effect?

So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said,“ Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.”

Yes, they spoke against God: They said,“ Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?Behold, He struck the rock, So that the waters gushed out, And the streams overflowed. Can He give bread also? Can He provide meat for His people?”Therefore the Lord heard this and was furious; So a fire was kindled against Jacob, And anger also came up against Israel,

Yes, again and again they tempted God, And limited the Holy One of Israel.

And Moses said,“ The people whom I am among are six hundred thousand men on foot; yet You have said,‘ I will give them meat, that they may eat for a whole month.’Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to provide enough for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to provide enough for them?”And the Lord said to Moses,“ Has the LORD’s arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether what I say will happen to you or not.”

Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness?And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey?So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

The head of Ephraim is Samaria, And the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If you will not believe, Surely you shall not be established.”’”

Go up to the top of Pisgah, and lift your eyes toward the west, the north, the south, and the east; behold it with your eyes, for you shall not cross over this Jordan.

Now the king had appointed the officer on whose hand he leaned to have charge of the gate. But the people trampled him in the gate, and he died, just as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him.So it happened just as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying,“ Two seahs of barley for a shekel, and a seah of fine flour for a shekel, shall be sold tomorrow about this time in the gate of Samaria.”Then that officer had answered the man of God, and said,“ Now look, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, could such a thing be?” And he had said,“ In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”And so it happened to him, for the people trampled him in the gate, and he died.
