惡人借貸而不償還；義人卻恩待人，並施捨人。

以色列王就說：『哀啊，永恆主召集了這三個王、要把他們交在摩押人手中了。』

『人若向鄰舍借甚麼，所借的或是折傷、或是死，物主沒有同在一處，借的人總要賠償。倘若物主同在一處，他就不必賠償。若是雇的，也不必賠償，因為它是為着工價而來的。

婦人去告訴神人；神人說：『你去賣油，把錢還給債主；剩下的、你和你兒子可以靠着過活。』

伺候神人的僕役清早起來出去，看見車馬軍兵圍着城；僮僕就對神人說：『哀啊，我主啊，我們怎麼辦呢？』

『有禍啊！有禍啊！那大城！那披着細麻、紫袍和朱紅袍、用金子、寶石、珍珠、為妝飾的！

森林的叢藪、他必用鐵器去斫伐；利巴嫩的樹、他必用斧子去伐倒。

他們把塵土撒在頭上，哭泣哀慟喊着說：『有禍啊！有禍啊！那大城！那城裏頭凡有船在海中的、由她的珍寶而得財富的、有禍啊！一時之間她已變為荒涼了！

鐵器若鈍了，人又不將刀刃磨快，那麼他就得多費力氣；但智慧的長處是能給人成功。
