惡人借債不還，義人慷慨給予。

以色列王叫道：「唉！怎麼辦呢？耶和華招聚我們三王，是要把我們交給摩押王！」

倘若有人向鄰居借牲畜，牲畜受傷或死掉，而當時物主不在場，借的人就要賠償。倘若物主當時在場，借的人就不用賠償。倘若牲畜是租來的，租的人只需付租金不用賠償。

婦人將經過告訴上帝的僕人，上帝的僕人對她說：「你去把油賣了還債，你們母子可以用剩下的錢度日。」

上帝僕人的侍者清早起來，走到外面，看見城被軍隊、車馬包圍，就對上帝的僕人說：「唉！我主啊，怎麼辦呢？」

說，『身穿紫色和朱紅色的細麻布衣服，以黃金、寶石、珍珠為裝飾的大城啊，真悲慘！真悲慘！

茂密的樹林必被鐵斧砍掉，連黎巴嫩的大樹也要倒在全能的上帝面前。

他們又把塵土撒在頭上，哀傷哭泣，喊著說，『這大城啊，真悲慘！真悲慘！所有經營航運的都因她的奢華而發了財，可是頃刻間她卻淪為廢墟了！』

斧頭鈍了若不磨利，用起來必多費力氣，但智慧能助人成功。
